The ads are everywhere showcasing businesses offering medical and spa like services. Often you can get both under one roof. The industry and the state boards are now refering to this type of business as medspa or medispa.
Tonight, we exposed how these new facilities are falling through the cracks and how some treatments aren't even FDA approved.
The problem stems from confusion and jurisdiction of the law. Oversight is unclear because the services offered at these facilities are split between the state's medical and cosmetology boards.
Bottom line, it's up to consumers to ultimately decide. So, make sure you ask about the person's training that is providing the treatment and get the full details about the treatment itself.
