CAR DEALER -- DEAL OR NO DEAL?

It's a question many consumers across the metro are asking about a car dealers ads.  They saw and heard the promises on television and radio.  We've heard from many customers who saw the promise, walked into the dealer, and signed up for the offer.  Fast forward six  months to a year.  Now, the consumers say the dealer is not holding up its end of the bargain and they're stuck with the financial burden.  We go undercover to find out what's really going on at this dealership.  Then we go back with our cameras rolling to get answers. What happened to the advertised deal? Was it really a deal or is there no deal at all? Tune in Wednesday night at 10 for this Call for Action investigation.

Feel free to share your thoughts....

jenn,

i really wish i would've known about this, cuz i would've added to your story, the dealership on burlington changed everything on my credit information and forged signature to a second contract in order to get it approved without my knowledge....which was considered fraud and forgery..:(

We be waiting with baited breath!   (Why does that sound like fisherman talk?)

Word on the board is that lots of people are interested in your story and would love to have you sit in on a "round table discussion" with members of the forum.  Me thinks there might be a second round to your story.  Members posted they observed movers moving computers out of the dealership this afternoon.  Removing evidence?

It is about time the media finally took notice of the issue and is willing to tell the public about this. Hopefully this will help the consumers get justice in a peaceful and civil manner from the dealership.

I bought a 2007 Suzuki Reno from Chad Franklin Suzuki on State Ave. in May of 2007.  They were running a program called "No Payments Now, No Payments in a Month, No Payments Ever".  This program was a scam from the very beginning and it was designed to trap you in a car with no way out other than destroying your credit.  All  the skeptical questions asked about this program was met with, "What do you care, you are never going to make any payments anyway?".  When pressed The Finance Manager (Scott) told me that Suzuki was giving the dealership special incentives.  A year later I know exactly how the program works.  They inflate the price of the car you are buying.  They call this a Kansas City Market Adjustment.  They add a $499.00 admin fee.  They add GAP insurance ($650.00).  They add Extended Warranty ($2,000.00).  Bear in mind they tell you you need all this in order to make the program work.  The dealer keeps all rebates ($4,000.00) and then tacks on enough money to the contract so they can mail you a check for the first 8 payments......not 12.  So, they take a 2007 Reno that cost them $9,000.00.  They sell it to you for $27,000.00 and they send you a check for $4,444.00.  When you take the care back you find out you are over $9,000.00 upside down (something Scott said he would not allow to happen).  They offer you $7,000.00 for the Reno if you trade it in on another care.  Also, if you elect to stay in the program and get another Reno you will be upside down 18 to 20 grand in another year.

This is one of the most despicable scam/cons ever perpetrated against a consumer.  Thanks to KCTalk.com for making a forum available for the many who got caught up in this scheme and thanks to NBC for investigating.

I think it's about time someone went after the Franklin dealerships. I bought a car when it was named after the father and all he did was teach his kids how to scam people even more.

I couldn't get them to admit they were wrong on my deal either. They teach there dealers to be awful people. The dealer (RayZ) I dealt with asked me to give him a stereo, my wedding diamond ring, and a diamond bracelet as my down on top of $500 to get into a car I didn't want. I was advised to buy the warranty plan on the car, when I went to try and use it. They had no record of it on file and wouldn't honor there own paperwork.

Bad experience with the Franklin dealership, learned my lesson to never step foot into there dealership ever again.

dotti, go to the KCTalk.com web site and click on Chad Franklin AKA legend thread.  Go to page 68, everything you need you should be able to find there.  Also,  a victim's meeting is going to be scheduled in the near future.  You should also know that a suit has been filed in Jackson County and the attroneys are asking that the presiding judge certify the case as a class action.  The attorney information is also posted on the site indicated above.  Just remember you are not alone and we are all going to work very hard, and do everything legally possible to get our money back.
