DEAL OR NO DEAL UPDATE

Call for Action continues its investigation into Chad Franklin. We've heard from over 90 consumers who are in the same situation.  Our latest investigation reveals questions over the paperwork. Consumers say they filled out a handwritten application asking for address, income, and employment history. But, consumers say when they call their lender, they are told the lender's application shows different answers to those questions.

If you are a customer, you should call your lender to see what they show on their application. Often, the dealer will send that directly to the lender and the consumer may not see it. But, you have a right to it and should ask your lender to work with you and give you a copy.

We kept thinking that the offer was too good, but they answered all our questions and assured us that it was a great deal.  They said they were trying to get good used Suzuki cars on their lots and so they were offering these deals.  For 3 years (we got ours in Sept, so we only had 2 1/2 years) we would pay $30 and in August we would come in and pick out a new car, both in 2008 and 2009.  Then in 2010 we would have the option of trading that car in for any used car off their lot.  So we talked about it and ran it through our heads and on paper, and came to the conclussion that it was a good deal and that in 3 years we would be able to have enough money saved up to make payments on a new car.  My sister also wanted a new car and so she went with us.  Because she is on disability they would not let her finance the car, so my husband agreed to co-sign the car.  We found out that we actually have both cars in our names.  So now we are responsible for 2 cars, one at $480 and one at $530.  We were glad to hear the Attorney General has finally taken action, but we can not afford to wait 6 months for a result.  So we are checking our options, with the arbitrator that is handling there accounts, and talking to a lawyer.  Hoping to find something out soon.  We are also preparing to talk to the banks to try to work something out.  Thanks for your investigating.
