In July, we told you about Time Warner Cable DVR's rebooting. At that time, this was the statement from Time Warner Cable:
"Im pleased to report that the issues you addressed in your questions have been fully resolved. Should anyone experience issues along those lines, they have a service issue with either their signal or cable box that requires a service call. Thank you."
That story sparked a lot of interest among viewers who tell me they're experiencing the same problems. Then, customers began writing that their DVRs were still rebooting during live programming like the Olympics. I also have reports of it happening during the Presidential Convention and live sports.
So, we called Time Warner again. Time Warner admits there is a problem with live programming that lasts more than two hours. It assures us that it has a fix figured out, and is installing that fix now. However, Time Warner Cable is still declining an on-camera interview. Here is the latest response from the company:
“Some of our Time Warner Cable customers experienced a recording issue with their Digital Video Recorder (DVR) during coverage of the Summer Olympic Games. In particular, Olympic programming lasting more than four hours in length caused some DVR boxes to reboot and resume recording. Time Warner Cable has developed a solution for recording programs of extended length. We have begun deploying the solution to affected customers and expect to have it completed by the end of this week.”
