Exploring Our Own Backyard: Seeing KC Sights/Sites

I told you last week about my family's efforts to see KC sites...places that are right in our backyard, but have gone unnoticed or unexplored.

We started with Liberty Memorial, and over the weekend several people helped me build my list of places we'll go in the near future.

- Someone emailed in about Cliff Drive in KC, MO. Never even knew this existed. Plan to head up there soon.
- Someone commented about the Steamboat Arabia Museum. It's officially on my list.
- Someone told me about Deanna Rose in Overland Park. I'd been there before, but was reminded about it. We went over the weekend. Wonderful! And free!!! Don't forget to donate if you can. That's how they operate.

- A mom told me about Wonderscope in Shawnee. It's on our list.

Just in case you've never been, you should definitely head to Science City in Union Station. The KC Zoo is a wonderful way to spend a day (or half a day). Of course, there's always Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun.

Update...
Just got two more suggestions to share:
- Kaleidoscope at Hallmark officially opens for the summer on June 2. (They're open now, but will close May 25th for spring cleaning.)
- Someone told me about a train ride from Union Station to Lee's Summit and back. I'm researching.
- And just opened my mail today and got an invite for the Toy and Miniature Museum of KC. They have a whole summer of events scheduled. The invite was for the Dangerous and Daring Exhibit for Kids which opens this week.

Email me or comment below to add to the list.
