Just Imagine...
Your only child is 4-months-old. He is healthy. He smiles and giggles. He recognizes his mommy and daddy, and his doctor says he's perfectly healthy.
You are nervous, of course, as first time parents. You are extra attentive.
Then, one day, you walk into your sleeping baby's room...
and find him not breathing.
Dead.
In his bed.
He will never smile again. Or giggle. His parents will never see that look of recognition on his little face.

SIDS, the doctor says, is the cause of little Devon Hance's death.
This is the story of a Metro family. And they aren't alone. On average, 30 to 35 infants die in the metro each year because of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Saturday morning, July 19, there is a 5K Run/Walk to raise awareness and money for SIDS support. It was started by Devon's mom. It's been a few years now, but she is still grieving. She will always grieve. But in her grief she has found the courage to start and continue this event. The event raises money for a local organization which offers support to families who lose a baby to SIDS.
It's 25 bucks. We'll all walk 5 miles. And you'll be home before your children are really even up and around for the day. The race begins at 7:30 am at Corporate Woods in Overland Park. You'll be done walking in about an hour.
Join them. Join me. It's a good cause.
