Ever had one of those moments when you need to call someone back, but you don't really have time to talk.

You dial, the phone is ringing, and you find yourself hoping for the other person's voicemail.
Well, ladies and gents, your days of wishful thinking are over.
Meet SlyDial.
The website gives all sorts of reasons why someone might want to use the service, which sends a caller straight to someone's voicemail. Things like:
- Your Aunt June sent you a sweater for your birthday. You need to call her to thank her but you don't want to listen to her go on and on about her recent hip replacement...
- You just gave an awesome pitch to a potential client. You want to call him and thank him for the opportunity but you know he is in another meeting and don't want to bother him. Leave him a voicemail...
Some might argue this is just another way for people to avoid any kind of contact with anyone (sort of a step further than the impersonal text messaging sweeping the nation right now).
Others will say this is a genuis idea, and kick themselves for not thinking of it.
I tried this out this morning. I tried calling my work cell phone using my landline phone at my desk. I immediately heard a female voice telling me she couldn't send my call through with caller-ID blocked. So, I tried calling from my work cell phone... I dialed and waited for the prompt. The call hung up. I tried again. It hung up again, and a box popped up on my cell phone screen saying the call was "not allowed".
At this point, I'm not going to try using my personal cell phone to give it a shot. Seems somethings up.
Apparently, if you can get it to work, you have to listen to a short advertisement before your call will be placed.
If any of you want to give this a shot, let me know how it goes. Just leave me a voicemail at 816-797-7437. Leave me a message about how it worked, what the ad was like, and I'll post your name and testimonial here.
Also, keep my number. If you think something's newsworthy, leave me a message anytime.
Update: Mike M. used slydial to call my voicemail. He got a message from some deep-voiced dude promoting mcdonalds.com dollar menu (lasting about 5 seconds). Then, call went straight to my voicemail.
