The train wreck that has become Britney Spears career is expected to lose another couple of cars later this week, after a magazine interview that she hoped to resurrect her public image apparently will have an opposite effect. Britney, who is serving as her own publicist these days, set up an interview with OK! magazine a few days back. The details of what happened during that sit-down are starting to emerge, and the words "career-killer" may be not be so far off. That old saying about how there's no such thing as bad publicity? Well, we may have found it.
The magazine says she showed up 45 minutes late, complaining about everything. Instead of using the crew that the magazine brought in to do her hair and makeup, she demanded that her friends make her up with the crew's equipment. The magazine brought in expensive designer gowns from Gucci and Chanel for her to wear, which Britney reportedly used to wipe her greasy fingers and clean up after her dog had an accident on the floor. Witnesses say she seemed "completely out of it" during the shoot, with her eyes rolling back in her head at one point so she looked dead. She also took several bathroom breaks and returned with a different mood each time. When she finally left, she took several of those expensive gowns with her.
I guess we'll have to wait until the issue comes out to find out whether these leaked details are true. OK! reportedly had an in-house debate over whether to run the story and photos, questioning whether it would be the final nail in the coffin of Brit's career. They decided to go ahead with it, saying it might prompt team Britney to get her the help she so desperately needs. The magazine is set to hit stores on Friday. You've got to wonder about the care she's giving her two young sons, over whom she's still locked in a custody battle with Kevin Federline. He called lawyers again this week to get the children out of her care as soon as possible, after a cousin who'd been Britney's personal assistant suddenly couldn't take any more.
I don't think the issue any more is so much whether her career can survive, but whether she can. Get this girl some help, y'all!
