It is too early to speculate, but we do have a pattern of snow up north this year.

sorry for they use of the word THEY on they prior blog i was refering to the models 2-5 days out not any weather forecasts. . .in my defense. . .but no more they i will be more clear.  Now we wait and watch an overunning situtation and hope the cold sinks ib first....blow blue norther....

I don't believe in the NAM

I am new to the blog, but I am learning so much. The maps are still a little tricky for me, but hopefully I will catch on soon. I am ready for some snow and really don't mind the cold weather. I live up north of Lawson, so I will try to report on the weather up here. I am becomming a believer in LCR and find it very interesting. My father was an old time farmer and he was one of the best weather forcasting I knew, until reading this blog. But my dad depended on alot of old wives tales about winter, but he did pretty good predicting winter. Thanks for the great blog and I hope to learn much more much.

dang it, Lee's Summit better get some accumulation. do you think we could see some and what time does the GFS come out?

I have NO reason to look at the NAM anymore.  Not 12 hrs ago it was saying that all the moisture was going to be down south and I mean way down south and 12 hrs later its saying its going to be 400 miles to the north.

Yes, and we will have another idea in less than one hour as the GFS comes out. This is a very strange storm and set up.  We must practice patience, as there is still another 6 model runs between now and the storm.

I have a question about the end of Feb. I know it is early but with the pattern that you have found can you tell me if it is going to be wet? Again I know it is early but I am driving down to Wichita for my oldest as she is in a choir thing the last weekend of Feb. and I really don't want there to be bad weather, so any info you can give ;) would be great! BTW PLEASE let it snow in Basehor this week!!!!!! Quit saying it is and then taking it away!!! JK I know you really can control it! Luv u guys anyway!!

Ok, South of I-70 let's just move onto Spring and call it a winter.

Those north of I-70, you just have the time of your life cleaning your driveways, shoveling snow, slipping on ice, and whatever fun stuff comes along with it.
This is getting old real quick!

Let's just wait and see how it sets up before we worry about this.  The NAM could be just the outlier model.

Well at least the GFS still shows a nice band of moisture from south to north:

NAM seems to be all whacked out from one run to the next, but the GFS is more consistent.  Anyway I like this!
