Good afternoon bloggers,
We are looking at big snowflakes falling on our KCI airport camera. The area of precipiation is concentrated from around Platte City to Lawrence southward, but it is growing rapidly and spreading slowly northward. The rain/snow line is lining up across the northwest parts of the metro area and is only VERY slowly moving east. Look below at the 2:15 PM surface map. Notice that winds are actuall from the north to northeast and this is not going to push that rain/snow line very fast. So, for those of you off to the southeast it could be another few hours before the rain changes to snow.

Precipitation will continue to increase in aerial coverage through this evening and the back edge will pass through around 4 AM. So, even if it waits until late this evening for it to changeover you should still get a few hours of snow. Our snow forecast still is valid as you can see below. We may make some adjustments by the 5 PM and 6 PM newscasts. So, make sure you watch the shows. It supports this blog big time.

One of our new bloggers said they recently made the switch to NBC Action News (from the other stations in town) for the most accurate forecast. We will continue working hard at getting more of the viewers out there to be our partners in bringing Kansas City the most accurate forecast every day.
If you start seeing snow, let us know!
