Good evening again NBC Action Weather Bloggers,
I am going to attempt to place a map in here a new way. Look back in ten minutes to see if I can succeed. If I do, then I can have yesterday's blog replaced with the maps I had lost on there.
7 degrees at 9 PM! That is cold, but it is going to get a lot colder during the next week.
Oh my, a map! The other maps from previous blogs will come back up sometime tomorrow. In the mean time look at the noon 850 mb forecast for Friday. This is showing a band of high relative humidity coming across at 5,000 feet on Friday. We will likely see a few snow showers as this happens sometime on Friday. No significant accumulation is expected.
A strong cold front will move through on Friday. It will likely drop to below freezing on Saturday morning.
Then, uh oh, here comes an even stronger Arctic front. Look how strong that Arctic high is by Monday morning. That is a 1052 mb high. WOW! The strongest of the season, and it will likely drop to 5 below zero, even 10 below zero across northern Missouri by Tuesday or Wednesday morning. And, look at the curving isobars across eastern Kansas. This is an inverted trough/front/wind shift line. It is forming in response to the flow around that western United States upper low. Snow is almost a sure thing on Monday, but will it be a dusting or significant accumulations? More to come tonight on NBC Action News and on Friday.
Well, it looks like this new way of doing the maps is working for now! Have a great evening. Bundle up, it is cold.
Gary
