Happy Friday Night In The Big Town!
Temperatures are going to crash to below zero over some locations tonight. Then another strong Arctic front will slide in here in a strange way Monday night. I will write this up in our blog tonight, so check back in later this evening! Look below at the 8 PM surface map:

O.K., bloggers. This set up for early next week is so strange. We are caught between the northern branch of the jet stream and the southern branch. The NAM says we stay in the southern branch and a very cold airmass sags back in here on Monday night, keeping us in the deep freeze next week. A warm front will move northward into Kansas on Sunday into Monday. It will become an inverted trough/front and change back into a sagging cold front Monday night. We may make a run into the 30s Monday before we go right back into this cold air mass on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Below, you can see the 850 mb forecast for Monday evening. A large area is covered in cloud cover at this level. And, if we don't go into the northern branch above this level then it could be cloudy with some very light precipitation for a long duration. I don't know if all of this makes sense to you, but now you can see how complex this really is for Monday through Wednesday. One thing for sure there are no major warm ups for another week.

Have a great weekend.
