Good dare I say balmy morning to you Jeremy!!!

Currently sitting at 28 with some high clouds rolling in this morning. It is very nice out this morning with the moon shining on the left over snow-a few slick spots on side walks etc. so keep your eyes open!!!!

Next week is going to be like riding the Mamba or like the ride Paul Stanley said about KISS after Beth was released: Buckle up!!!! Satalite imagery is pretty cool this morning-you can really see that ridge popping up over the Rockies this morning and man that moisture streaming into old Mexico off the Baja of California......Things are comming together at least in my little hobbyist mind!! LOL

Have a great weekend and good luck with the new show-unfortunately if it is not Thomas or Naratou, it is not watched at my house LOL!!! I hope you get to get out with your daughters sometime over the next few days and enjoy this weather-it will be nice-breezy, but nice!!! I will be trying to find the lost engine from the Island of Sodor which got lost in a snow bank!!!!!

My oldest daughter loves Thomas!  Living in Olathe gives her plenty of opportunities to see real life Thomas' many times a day!

I'd like a model ban too...but I should probably keep up on those things.  I still think the GFS is too far south...it should trend north heading into next week.

I'm at work too, couldnt see it.  Can't wait to see what it's all about though.
The end of the month storm, I will have that day off , or that evening, then Friday and Saturday.  So im hoping it holds off until Thursday 4pm and lasts, so I can go home and have Radartitus, LOL.  Have a good day, it was nice this morning, very heavy frost though.  60 degrees is going to feel SO good!  Snow is my favorite, but this year has been enough to satisfy me, Especially knowing there is more coming and im not done with it yet!  Maybe a big one or two!  or five- LOL!

You are in a better spot at the moment if you believe the models.  I still think the GFS has the storm too far south.  I like your odds better than the first time around though(December version).

I did a double take this morning too when I saw the frost!

I confess to having modelitis, and although I know it means nothing, I'm pleased to see that the GFS is has a little stronger and colder solution for the end of next week and the beginning of the following week.  It'll probably change back by later today, though.  Nothing to to do but wait 'til it happens, I guess. ;)

We loved the show, but just wish it were longer.  I understand that these things take time to take off, but would love to see a two or three hour show like the competition does.

Great show Jeremy!  I love have an accurate weather forecast to start my weekend.  Looking forward to the warmer weather for a few  days, but I am definitely looking forward to next weeks storm.

Like Bill, I am taking a break from the models for a while, they are driving me nuts!

Finally, I have to think those areas to our south have been missed with our winter weather have a better shot of being hit in the next several weeks!  

BTW--Taking off Monday, if the weather holds, I am going to play golf.  What a great state, snow and cold one day, sunny and golf the next!

Already 43 at KCI and here in Hville. Looks likes todays highs are going to exceed the forecasted highs by several degrees. ************ Good observation:) I updated the blog. Probably upper 40s maybe low 50s in KC. Today will be a good guage of how warm it will be in the next two days. Probably closer to the NAM numbers if it hits 50 today in KC. Jeremy

It is interesting to see how rapidly this air mass is being modified today. If it gets up to 55 I am going to start becoming more and more concerned for Monday, as the models may be underestimating the amount of warm air streaming into our area that could possible be in place for a severe weather event. ************* I'll look closer at the severe potential for Monday when I'm back at work this PM. I'd be more concerned that Monday would be 65 for a high...let's look at things a bit later. Jeremy

Well we are on the right path for snow up here the models 4-6 days out had every event south of I-70 THEN POOF up north to Topeka, Lawrence and St Joe.  I am not worried it will recurr again.  But we will still get a humm-dingger in the batch of 10-14 surrounded by 6-10 even in poor ole Harrisionville.  42.2 degrees at 12200hrs. *************** I kind of agree with the first statement, but the snow totals would surprise me:) Although it would satisfy Brent! Don't forget about poor ol drexel! We have had less snow than harrisonville! We have a plastic anti snow bubble over us.

Its been quite the winter with the haves and have nots situation again showing well! I find it amazing areas around St.Joseph have had so much snow then you go by Truman Lake and they have probably had 4" only at most. This is why I think the global warming talk is all subjective and based too much on a local perspective. For example, Maybe someone in Central Missouri thinks global warming is for real who doesn't understand the scenario, and another person around St.Joseph where the cold air has been more persistent and lots more snow thinks the global warming is all hogwash! This is why I rely only on Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson to tell me what their views are on politics and the global scheme of weather and news so I dont have to listen to the drive by liberal media nationally, and unbiased local sources for our weather, which I believe this station is for the most part, except maybe Gary hoping a little too much for snow at time, but I give him a free pass because he enjoys it so much! I would be a very happy camper if we got one more very heavy snowfall with no ice and if President Bush could be reelected!

I'm thinking of purchasing a personal weather station... I am currently looking at the Oregon Scientific WMR968's manual online and like what I see -- I want something that can upload data to sites like wunderground, perferably without paying an astronomicaly high price. Any other recommendations? I would say my budget is around $250 for this.

I want to make it clear, I LOVE SNOW ( I went to school at Oswego State (with Al Roker) back in NY because of its reputation for snow)... but my wish is for next Saturday to be just like today.  I know, I know... it won't happen but we are moving my two oldest girls and my granddaughter to their own place next Sat and I really hope it won't be too cold or have lots of snow on the ground. (2 down, 2 to go and I'll have a spare room for the first time in 28 years of marriage!!!!) From Feb. 3 on it can snow all it wants... the more down here in LS the better.... Jeremy, can you please put in a special request with Mother Nature for me?  She and Gary seem to have a special connection so I'm sure she'll listen to you.  `: - }

I missed out on this discussion yesterday.  I think Gary mentioned  that the national NBC Weather Plus feed decides the music...not the NWS.  Go to the national Weather Plus web page and you may be able to contact someone there.  It's worth a try.  We don't decide though.

Much easier to come back from South Texas with these temps.  Thank you Jeremy! =).  Flying through the cloud deck late yesterday afternoon (4:10) was amazing.  Clear blue skies above and then total white out from the cloud deck until we landed, it was kind of eerie.  I will be so glad to see all this snow melted here in Paola, still have quite a bit around.  I went hiking with Windy this morning and we still hit some ankle deep snow in the woods.  Everyone get out and enjoy the weather, we probably won't get this lucky again for quite awhile.

Keep up the great work!  I have referred several friends and family members in Iowa and Nebraska to this website, and specifically the Blog.  The forecasters in Iowa and Nebraska can't seem to get the forecast right - and you have been hitting it all along.  2 Days ago, the low in Cedar Rapids, Iowa was -23, whereas the low in Council Bluffs was "just" -6, and if my memory serves me correctly, you three had talked about the Cold Air mass - and where the Coldest air would hit.  DEAD ON ACCURACY - even for outside our viewing area!  PLEASE - DON'T EVER QUIT YOUR DAY JOB!!!!!

You guys are the most accurate I have ever seen - and I've seen a lot of them in 5 different states!  You are True Professionals!

These type of days in the MIDDLE of winter clearly separate the Central Plains from the Midwest. The Central Plains area warms up MUCH quicker in the winter compared with the Midwest. Highs today were in the 20s and 30s in much of Iowa, Wisconsin, and northern Illinois.
I am really looking forward to the snow at the middle to end of the week!

Keep in mind we reside on the southern extent of the snow pack most winters.  When a south wind blows it is generally bringing up air that moves over little or no snow.

I know I shouldn't be saying or thinking this...
but one channel said snow is likely thursday with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches likely possibly much more...and they said there would be heavier snow tracks south of KC than the last storms!!!!!!!!

I know I am getting my hopes up...but they are the first ones to put out a number...I like that...sometimes I wish you guys would put one out 3 or 4 days ahead of time..I know its hard...but  general idea is always good...


Lets hope it happens!!!!!

Read the new blog and there may be a statement you won't like.  I could care less what other stations do to be honest since I have no hand in making their forecast.  I'm glad they put a number out there this far out and I'm also glad I saw a forecast the past two nights that does not even mention a storm on Thursday.  Forecasts vary, but one thing that we assure you is the most accurate forecast will come from us.

I really hope you see the most snow on Thursday...but don't count on it!
