Good morning everyone,
Temperatures are crashing, wind is increasing, and we are anticipating snowflakes!
NBC Action News meteorologist Brett Anthony is tracking the Arctic front on the Today show and, remember, we have our new 11 AM newscast for you to watch as we track the possibility of any snow moving in. I am on Newsradio 980 KMBZ through the morning as well. So, we have many ways to keep you updated with Kansas City's most accurate forecast.

The temperatures are dropping during the 7 AM hour. The Arctic front is now in the Kansas City metro area (as you can see on the 6:43 AM surface analysis), and rapidly moving through. A WIND ADVISORY is in effect today and we are expecting the winds to pick up with gusts to 50 mph from the northwest possible this afternoon. Snow is also likely, but accumulations will be under one inch in most areas.
Precipitation is just now developing at 7 AM. We will monitor this closely for you as radar echoes just started developing on LIVE:ESP radar northwest of Topeka. Let's see how this develops between now and noon.
We will go into Thursday's snow potential later today. The Thursday storm has similarities to others we have had this season, but it will have a February twist to it. More on this later this morning or early this afternoon, as we will concentrate on today's chance of snow and cold first.
Bundle up, it is back to winter after a very short break.
