Good afternoon NBC Action Weather Bloggers,
Live:ESP radar was showing an increasing area of snow, as you can see below, but it is now shifting off to the east and will not last long enough to accumulate in the metro area. The deformation band is setting up on the northwest side of this storm system. There will be some accumulation from this final band of snow, well, there weren't too many other bands of snow. The areas most likely to see accumulation will be well south of an Olathe, KS to Richmond, MO line. The area of snow is trying to develop north and west, but it will have a limit of how far it can go as the storm begins moving away. Areas southeast of Kansas City (near Warrensburg and Sedalia) have the best chance of seeing 1 to 2 inches of snow out of this band, whereas areas to the northwest may just have a few flurries.

Some criticism has been making its way into the blog, and I am sure I have a few in our emails. Our forecast for this storm system was anything but perfect. We never thought it would be a big storm, and I am not that surprised at what has happened so far today. The storm did track a bit farther south, but right now, as expected snow is increasing and moving in about the time we thought it would. After the storm is over we will do a recap tonight. In the mean time, it isn't over until.....................so let's track this finale and we will move on later this evening. The forecast hasn't been totally blown, yet. And on my way to work I am going to drive in snow, and I am wearing my snow vest. Have a great day. Let us know what you experience with this final band of snow.
