Good morning bloggers,
Booming thunder, very loud and rumbling across the KC metro area this morning. Snow, sleet, rain, hail, thunder, lightning, wind, and a mixture of all of these above have been reported. At 10 AM, it was snowing at KCI, Parkville, and Lansing. It was sleeting and hailing in Overland Park and Kansas City, MO. It was snowing and sleeting mixed in Kansas City, KS. The rain/snow line will lift north as the precipitation tapers off this afternoon. Look at the strong warm front at 10 AM below showing 60s to the south and 30s across our area.

Rain, sleet, and snow is rapidly developing and heading our way. There has been some snow reported in Maryville, way up near the Iowa border. Even that should mix and changeover as warmer air moves in today. Thunderstorms are also rumbling between Emporia and Ottawa. Lightning strikes are represented by the white lightning symbol...on this map there were 28 lightning strikes in the past 10 minutes. This band of mixed precipitation is associated with a fast moving upper level storm. It will pass by early this afternoon, but then the warm front may help develop some more showers/drizzle later on.

The thunderstorms are producing rain, sleet, hail, and snow. Areas that see hail, sleet, and snow may see the ground whiten up quickly due to the intensity of the falling precipitation. The pictures, below, are from Lenexa. David, one of our bloggers, took these and sent them in. Wow! Great pictures, thanks for sharing them. We have had a wild morning.

Looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday. That warm front, shown above, will likely pass through and we could jump into the 60s Monday, then the main storm will move through on Tuesday. The latest data has us on the edge of some snow again. Some of us may see accumulations Tuesday, and others will likely get missed again. We will try to pin this down on our newscasts tonight.
