Light snow is now falling around Kansas City

Good afternoon bloggers,

Very light snow has been falling on the Plaza.  As I arrvied at the NBC Action News studios it was snowing, very lightly and blowing in the road a bit.  The main storm will move through early Tuesday morning and as it approaches we may see a continuation of some very light snow.

There has also been a light glazing of ice from freezing drizzle around Sedalia.  We will go into more details on the weather pattern a bit later today.

Gary

Just looked out and saw the light snow in the Crown Center area. Looks nice and won't mess up the drive home. That's the kind of snow I'm liking right now.

theres no snow on the radar....hmmm

the 7 day looks ok...with 20's for 4 days...but its the same old problem...when its cold enough for snow, theres no moisture, when we have moisture, its too warm for snow...it really does stink

Gary, when will Harrisonville get 6 inches of snow?!

I just looked outside and there are snow flakes flying in St. Joe too, so once again another week where it has snowed at least some, that is one thing with this pattern here we have had some winter precipitation at least once  a week for weeks now!!!

As of 3:40pm CST, we have seen (7) flakes of snow here in Overland Park. Seriously, it is about that light so far. I doubt we see much more than a light dusting.

Snow is still lightly coming down but it has picked up in intensity. If it snows at this pace, it would take a year to get an inch.

Snowman Asked the Following
'Chfs327, what exactly is the weather going to do in the KC metro area on Monday?  And what exactly for Thursday?'

Snowman Glad you ask. Monday at around noon time it will begin as sleet till bout 5 then change over to FRZ rain till about 3AM then change to a Light snow.

In the Ice storm we get bout 1/2 inch to .75 inch of FRZ rain/ ice on the powerlines

Thursday it will be alot like last tuesdays storm. The Advancing coldfront combined with a Low coming in from the four corners will track above us. Here in KC will only get around 4-6 inches but in St.joe will get around 8-10 inches again.

With that storm there is a possibility of a Blowing snow advisory as winds will pick up from the northwest from 25-35 MPH with Gusts up to around 50 MPH"

This forecast may be worth the same amount I paid for it...zilch! I think I'll stick to Gary, Brett, Jeremy and Jeff.  Thanks anyway chfs327.

I love this cold weather. I made snow with my snow-machine in my back yard yesterday.  My back yard is covered in a cosmetic 1-3" coating. My forecast for Forest Glenn in Overland Park,KS is an isolated snow that will remain stationary and produce about two inches over Tuesday afternoon in a single yard. I also have a reliable forecast for the next 12 hrs. for all of us: Prolonged darkness, followed by scattered light- becoming more widespread toward morning. LOL
