Snow Forecast

What a morning bloggers!  I have been swamped, but still reading thru your comments and reports.  Hopefully everyone had a chance to watch out new weekend morning show today!

Live: ESP radar is now showing a large area of moderate snow with heavier snow bands.  Snow may come down at rates of 1 inch per hour and this will add to the snowfall forecast you can see below.

Here is the final snow forecast map that I showed on the air at 8:45am.  The snow is really coming down in spots!  But once again areas southeast of KC will see very little.

This is very close to the original map that Gary showed on-air Friday Night.  The snow should wind down in most spots by early this afternoon.  Temperatures are at or above freezing in many locations, so slushy roads can be expected in many areas.

Please send in your snow totals by 3pm this afternoon and I will include them on the WxPlus update and also on NBC Action News at 5 & 10pm!  Enjoy your Sunday!

It just started snowing here in Sedalia around 9am. It's coming down at light to moderate rates and is just starting to stick to the grass. I don't know how much rain we have got over the past two days because my wife took the weather station to her classroom so she could teach a weather unit to her 5th graders. Hopefully I will be getting my weather station back soon. On my way to Columbia soon to watch the K-State women play MU hopefully the roads will hold up.    Steve

Temperature in south Leavenworth has warmed up to a balmy 34 degrees. Snow seems to have become mixed with something like sleet. Stopped accumulating as the new "stuff" is compacting where I last measured 3.5 inches.  Water is running down the curb - so it must be pretty warm. Where the plows have been, the roads are staying clear now. Just slushy stuff.

We may not have received the big 6 plus inches this time, but there have been several winters in my life time that I would have given anything for a snow like this so no complaints here!!!

So many thoughts about the past 24 hours-what an interesting storm!!! I now have to decide if I need to cancel our school senate's faculty appreciation dinner which I am in charge of so here comes the phone calls LOL!!!

Breezy, with a northwest wind between 24 and 28 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible ...I don't see this happening since I'm still at 1/2" slush and wet cars and sidewalks. And it's got 1 hour and 20 minutes to do all of this? I have no idea how much snow down here near Ward Pkwy Mall.  We do have a couple inches of slush.  Nasty. Not Fun. And definately Not Snow.  Although it did snow, it just didn't stay in snow form.

I live near Price Chopper. I don't know why, but every where I measured at 11:45 was around 4 inches. Did gary get my pictures? I'm hoping all the snow is gone by tonight so I will have a reason to run the snow machine again tomorrow. Do you think it will be below freezing all day tommorow, because your temp. forecast was way off for today. :)

I guess I was focused on getting the snow forecast right which we did in 95% of the area.

There are lots of Price Choppers, which town?

Sun is peaking in and out of the clouds here in La Cygne. All the snow (had about a 1/2 inch) has melted and I have huge puddles of water everywhere. Sump pump is running every 5 minutres. Wind is very strong and gusty.

I will have to go with stjoelawyer total this time around since I am not at home and able to measure. I would have estimated 4-5 inches. I went out and shoveled the driveway where I am staying, talk about heavy snow. I think if it was so wet and compacted the total would have been higher. There was also a thin layer of ice/slush under the snow. I would guess thats from the rain/sleet we had around 5 today before it started snowing. I'm ready for spring now, let the snow go somewhere else. You know its bad when a child makes the comment when waking up, "Not again".

Stjoelawyer,
I can imagine all the potholes in St Joe!  Yikes!  I hope that no one loses one to a pothole.

We got 3 to 3.5 inches of snow here in  north Raytown.... also picked up 1.26" rain!!!
Wish the cold air would have been here quicker and deeper, that would have been a storm.

Thanks for the report!
