Final Snow Totals Request

I'm beginning to compile all the snow totals received.  If you would like to add yours to the list please post your location and total and I'll check the comment section over the next 1-2 hours.

Later today I will do a new blog with your totals and also look back at this storm and ahead to another possibly active week!

Here in Paola, all the snow has melted off the grassy areas and the sun is peaking out occasionally through a patch of blue sky, it's a beautiful sight!  We had 1/2" here and now we have a slushy mess, water standing in the yard.

We got about 3 inches in Western Olathe.  However, it's 38 degrees here now so it's rapidly disappearing.

I could only guess how much snow we had.....it was melting during the event.  I am guessing we would had 2.5 to 3 inches in North Blue Springs.  I shoveled over an inch of slush in the driveway just a few minutes ago.

If Temps would have dropped into the Upper 20's today we would have seen widespread 4 to 8 inches

The snow is melting fast here in west Olathe and the water is running like a river in my yard. Also, my front porch chairs went tumbling over to the other side of the porch, what incredible winds!  I bet we did have 2-3 inches of snow, but with the blowing and melting, it was too hard to measure accurately. Janet

Janet,

I had 2.5" around K-7/10 in Olathe.  Your total sounds good.

Turned over to snow in Stanley area at 6:00 a.m.  After that time I had .35 precipitation but never more than one inch of slop on the ground at any one time.  Already mostly bare ground now.

Still a few flurries here in belton, MO. The total was 2.5" in the grassy area's and about 2" on paved roads... But, the bad thing is it started to slowly melt! Now we are down to 1" in the grassy areas, if that and barely anything on the roads... Also the sun is starting to peek out at times...

Here in the Fort Osage area in Independence we had 1.25 inches of rain and before it started raining again and melting it off, we were at 2.5 inches of fluffy wet snow.  It would have been interesting around here to say the least if this had all been snow.  Have  great day!

At 291 and 150 (Lee's Summit) measured 1.65 inches of rain prior to 7:00AM. Snowfall difficult to measure as it was melting about as fast as it fell! Moisture in the gauge was .3". What does that calculate to in snowfall? This seemed to be a very wet snow so I would GUESS about 2" of snowfall. Jeremy, does my calculation sound about right?

2.5 inches of snowfall.  Depth at 5 PM melted down to 1.5 inches.  Total precipitation 1.75 inches.  (Of the 1.75 inch total, about 0.50 inches of water equivalent was in the snowfall.)

1.38" of rain and 3+ inches of snow 2 miles South of Reno. The snow was hard to measure, very wet and melting at 0930 when I took the measurements, so total depth could have been more than three inches.

A pair of the best weather forecaster in the United States, if not the world, graced us with their arrival at our home today. Although they are not big in the press, nor television stars, they are a sure bet to predicting the seasons.  No offense to the great job our KHSB Channel 41 Action Weather Team.  You are number one in meteorology.  But this couple like cold water to a thirsty soul............

Jeremy I'll ask you this today and Gary the same question tomorrow..

But it sure looks like alot of the midwest and Missouri valley is quite wet with saturated soils... Do you think we are going to have alot of flooding issues this spring?

*****************

I almost put a statement in about my concerns of flooding this Spring, but I want to wait to discuss this during the Spring forecast.  I think that will come out in a few weeks.
