Good evening everyone,
Are you looking at the eclipse. It is pretty cool as the moon is passing into the Earth's shadow right now. Go look outside!
The new data is trickling in. And, this Thursday/Friday storm is like watching a slow motion version of one of our earlier storm systems this season. It is just a weak version of a few of them (another example of the LRC). So, here is what will likely happen with this storm. We will see a period of light sleet/snow between 3 AM and 9 AM on Thursday. One band of heavier sleet/snow will move across and south of I-35 between 9 AM and 3 PM. Then, it will taper off to freezing drizzle or snow grains (very light snowflakes) between 3 PM and 9 PM. Then, between 9 PM Thursday and 3 PM Friday a band of snow will form with the main storm and do a weak version of what our other storm systems have done. It will form and develop west and northwest of Kansas City, frustrating areas to the south and east. And, then it will spin by and most of us will see some minor accumulation on Friday. Overall I am expecting 1 to 2 inches total by Friday evening. 2 to 4 inches may fall in a band north and west of KC by Friday afternoon. There could be some changes to this forecast as we get into Thursday and Thursday night. So, stay with NBC Action News and we'll keep you advised.
I will go over this at 10 PM tonight on NBC Action News, and we will have a timelapse and pictures of the eclipse. Hopefully you will get a chance to watch.
