Hey Gary, is it just me or is the main storm sitting over the Four Corners?  The other question would be will it hold together long enough to give us more snow tonight/tomorrow?

My knee is hurting again and my spidey since is in high gear for us here in SE Independence finally getting a good 4 inches by tomorrow afternoon

Sedalia got sleet last night..guess roads are really bad here, they have called off school in Sedalia...YEA!!  I have a snow day!

snowing again in st jo ,light covering on the ground, 10 degrees, east wind,seems a lot better than yestereday morning, though.

i just came in to NW Olathe at K-10/K-7 via I-435 about 15 minutes ago. not pretty, but not horrible either. hit some precip right there at the interchange of 435-I-35 and Lackman. that's nasty enough on dry pavement, let along slushy-glazed conditions with what i thought was sleet. didn't last long.

No school in Lee's Summit...I guess I'm glad because it LOOKS really slick out and I HATE driving in ice...

i went outside aroud 6:30 and it was light frz drizzle and cars from what i can tell on 435 are moving pretty good. at this point you think the kids will be out again tomorrow?

How much Frzng rain/sleet/snow accumulations will fall in east Olathe? How much will come on Friday? .20" of snow and sleet, little patches of ice also. 15 degrees.

schools are canceled here up north, looks like the heavy precip is going to miss us here up north although I live about 5 miles north of downtown.

Lots of sleet falling here in La Cygne mixed with a bit of glazing. Truck windows and east side of house has a light glazing. Road way is completely covered with sleet. Eeekkk.

let me rephrase the question, unless you consider ferrelview northern clay county. **** Teamster, Hi, yes you should only receive light precip today.  This heaviest of this band moving along I-35 will stay south of I-35.  The better chance for accumulation is tonight.  Brett 

No snow day?  It is slick here in Tonganoxie.  Glad I am not a bus driver! Roads are covered and we are at a cold 12.  Be careful out there guys!

EWWWW!  It was slick & slushy on 71 North from 39th St into the downtown loop.  Not as much on the roads as I continued on 670 & 70 into Kansas.  

So, how much more is coming?

Yippy!!!! School has finally been cancelled. Freezing rain started at midnight and we have alot of sleet falling. Can not wait to see what the accumulation ends up being. Of course their was no sleeping in today with school being called off cause the sleet was so loud it woke the girls up...UGHHH!!! Oh well...that is life as a parent. :o)

Kinda worried here in Louisburg-the sleet is coming down and kids have school today. They have only had ONE snow day this season-they feel ripped off! :) Deb

Nice job on the 5:00pm newscast last night...

It is definitely slick out there this morning. If you are deliberate in your driving and you will be OK. Do not be in a hurry, however.

This current precipitation "blob" on the radar looks like it is going to makes things worse south and east of I-35. After this blob passes, the radar looks quiet for now.

It will be interesting to see how the later model runs handle the main low presuure system coming out tonight and tomorrow.

Thanks, and yes it will be interesting.  It is hard to believe that this storm comes across on Friday morning and may end up producing a dusting or less.  But, then again, this season has had its struggles with producing snow on the south side.

I guess CHFS327 got to make the call to cancel school for Olathe........LOL...... Slick out here in Independence as well this morning. Go figure 14 degrees and we get sleet and freezing rain. The other day 33 degree and snowing like crazy but didn't stick around cause it was 33. Love the KC weather.

I just made a round trip from independence to downtown and, wow, traffic is not good at all.  It is pretty slick, but not too bad if you drive slowly and don't panic, which I usually have trouble with the panicking part.  It was worse in indep than downtown for sure, at this point anyway.  Freezing rain/sprinkles were falling most of the time and were a bit heavier towards independence.  My windshield was freezing over while I was driving even with the defrogger on the whole time.

I woke up this morning to what seem to be sleet. I looked at the road and some places it looks quite shiny, like it's ice one th road. It doesn't look like too much has fallen enough to give everything a little cover. I hope everyone is safe if they have to go out. I know I won't be going anywhere. If my husband were here I'd be shopping, nobody ever seems to be at the stores if weather is like this, but I'm not taking my little girl out int his for me to go shopping. hehe
Well, everyone be safe. I'll be checking in to see what's going on.

not to bad of a drive to downtown from Riverside this morning!  Alot of idiots out there speeding by me talking on cell phones.  The worse spot in my drive was across the Heart of America Bridge.  You could just see that thing shiny as ever...

Not so sure this won't be a slight freezing rain event for the southern area. I have big rain drops freezing on the surfaces along with the sleet here in La Cygne.

Of course, every school in MO seems to be out on and hardly none on Kansas side...I had to make the jaunt from Lee's Summit to KCK for school today. Wish they woulda cancelled. It took me an 1 hr, 5 min to get to school today. A trip that normally takes 30-35 minutes. Yuck!!

Is there a chance the conditions will continue to get worse over here today? I see we are on the northern edge of precip, but it is coming down pretty good in Lee's Summit.

I may have to use one of my "sick days" tomorrow.

I just got back to Grandview from the south. Wow! the roads are slick! I took it slow as traffic was running about 25-30mph. Once you try to stop, you slide, thank gosh a lot of people are taking it slow! Here in Grandview the visibility is going down, it is snow mixed in with sleet and coming down good!

I am so worried about the drive home today.  I teach in Olathe and have to get all the way back to Brookside!  Is this supposed to continue into the late afternoon? ***** The sleet & snow should continue til about 10am.  This afternoon, there will be scattered light freezing drizzle or sleet.  Very light.  Brett

I think chfs made a wrong call by not cancelling school! I think he will have some huntin that boy down!

North of the river here is being reported as lighter, but driving from 108th and 169N to Smithville and back was slick!  My windshield kept freezing over with the freezing drizzle and on the way back the drops were getting larger.  Wouldn't call it quite freezing rain though...  The roads are white with sleet and ice pellets and it looks like MoDot used sand on 169 rather than salt as it's all brown.

Slow down out there!  No need to hurry and freak everyone out in front of you!  

Light to moderate freezing drizzle from Tonganoxie all the way to Fort Leavenworth this morning. Widshield defroster could not keep up. County blacktop roads are treacherous. 40 mph max.  

I came into work this morning between 0630 and 0700.  Roads this morning coming from Grandview to Overland Park were not the greatest.    I'm in a training class and half of the folks are running late..

Gary - can we expect this again on Friday morning?

Very light mix of sleet and snow falling now in the Northland near Vivion beween N Oak Tfwy and Antioch.  A very unpleasant surprise to come out of work at 7 a.m. to find my car windows coated with an icy mix of sleet and freezing rain/drizzle, ugh!  And only 15 degrees to boot.  It has to be one of the coldest freezing drizzle/rain events I've experienced.

sleeting here at 113th and cookingham in clay county again coming down decent dont know if its sleet or freezing drizzle.

Somewhere around 1" of sleet give or take a little.  Sleet is pretty compact...so that is why totals don't get too crazy.  Thanks for the report!

North of Leavenworth, we have a light dusting of a snowy pelt, I took my son to school instead of letting him drive and the roads are fine, traffic traveling at normal speeds and just a light dusting on the bridges. Maybe the Northland escapes this one?..We could only be so lucky!!!

First time caller, long time listener .....  I live in Lawrence and work in downtown KCK (hence the name).  The drive in down I-70 took an additional 30 minutes +. We were fighting freezing drizzle/mist the whole way which seemed to get heavier as  came east. There were some vehicles that appeared to have slid off the road. Once inside the 435 loops traffic came to a crawl.  It was not a fun drive.
