Snow Total Request...

What a night!  Finally the southern part of the are is seeing some snow!  Thank you to everyone who has sent in pictures and snow totals!  I just wanted to start a new post quick to request snow totals before 10pm and then send in final totals by 7-7:30am Sunday so that I can include them on NBC Action News Today at 8am.

Please refer to the 8pm update on the previous blog for the latest thoughts.  The snow map I posted I like...but a few isolated areas in the 2-3" band down south may end up with 4" when all is said and done!

Will this winter ever end?

You ask if this winter will ever end?  Personally, I'm in NO RUSH!  Allergies, bugs, muddy conditions, unbearable heat and humidity... these are the things to think about once it starts warming up.  At least the bright side is thunderstorms but the cons outweight the pros.  The first time it hits about 85 degrees is the first time I start wishing for autumn to hurry up and come around again.

It is quite beautiful out there with light winds and snow falling, and its all going to melt tommorrow! To top it off we now have 3 days in the 7-day in the 50's. Some of us went out to dinner.  We went to Macaroni Grill in Independence MO for dinner.  When we walked into the restaurant at 6:45 PM, it was mostly cloudy.  When we walked out at 9:35 PM, it was snowing!  The snow was sticking to the grassy areas and some of the less traveled sidewalks and driveways.  As we got closer to home in south Raytown, the snow stuck more to streets and sidewalks.  We probably had one-half inch of heavy wet snow.  I was able to throw a couple of snowballs at my friends as they were pulling out of my driveway. LOL

Good Morning Jeremy, I believe this is the worst Winter Paola has seen in quite some time, precipitated by the wettest Spring and Summer we have seen in quite some time as well.  We have a good 3" of snow on the ground now, there is nothing pretty about it, it's simply cold, wet and going to produce mud and flooding of Bull Creek as it melts today.  Fortunately I went out yesterday and scraped all the slush and ice build up off our deck and ramp (our son is in a wheelchair) so today I can shovel off this new buildup of nasty snow.  Not sure where to shovel it, hate to keep adding to the yard as it will be a muddy mess today.  We did spread a couple bales of straw yesterday in anticipation of the "warm up", maybe that will give the dogs an area to go out and play.  Perhaps some sunshine today will help our moods around here, right now things look pretty dismal and Spring seems a hundred years away........

****************

Thanks for the snow total...I'll add it to the list.  Spring will arrive some year:)

Hey about 2.5 inches here in Adrian, its squatted a little this morning most fell between 7:45 and 11:30 last night.  So rates were close to 1/2 an inch per hour.  I was a pretty little snow while it was falling hanging on the branches and shrubbery.  So we are up to almost 10 inches of frozen precipitation for the winter now.  Maybe the south side catches up in March.

Good morning from Adrian.  FINALLY woke up to some flufffy white stuff covering our 5 acres.  Looks like 2 1/2 to 3 inches.  Not a huge amount, but will make some little boys extremely happy since it has passed us up so many times this year.  Now to get the fire cracklin' and sit back and enjoy the view......

Only got about a half of an inch in Roeland Park, Kansas (extreme northeast Johnson County).  It seems like this whole winter that either two counties south, two counties west or (most often this winter) two counties north get the good snow totals.  Oh well, there's always next year!
