Good morning bloggers,
Update at 11 AM: This storm is not going to get its act together until it is way past Kansas City. Right now we are thinking a few rain showers and then some light snow with very little accumulation overnight. We will look at everything and have updates on NBC Action News tonight!
The south side of the local area had a snowstorm on Saturday evening. It was amazing as the northern edge of this storm set up from Shawnee, KS to Blue Springs, MO. North of this line there wasn't even one flake of snow. A few inches fell south of this line. I had 2 ½" and you can see my favorite picture of Breezy and Stormy below (Breezy is on the left, Stormy is looking almost into the camera).

This weather pattern continues to cycle and we strongly believe that there will be more Arctic air building in Canada during the next two weeks and then the series of more energetic storm systems will begin within two to three weeks. So, I expect us to continue to have the potential for winter storms through March, but there will be a few brief warm ups, one of which should arrive around Thursday.
Another storm is beginning to develop right now. I am still not certain that it will develop fast enough for us to see snow tonight as it still hasn't quite come together. Look at the surface map st 5 AM this morning:

The warm front is not very well defined (red line), and the cold front is also not organized (blue line). This surface low, being northwest of Kansas City right now, will draw in the warmer air and it now appears the south half of the city will get into the 50s today. An upper level storm is also in various pieces. It all tries to come together as it is passing by this evening. If it forms fast enough we could see some accumulation of snow, but right now I would say a dusting of snow is possible overnight in most spots, with possibly 1 inch in far northeastern locations around Trenton (which will make this the 14th week in a row with snow there). It is still another snowfall, though. We are up to 17 accumulating snows in our local region.
There is a chance of some rain before it becomes cold enough for snow this evening. So, we will be watching Live:ESP closely today.
How much snow have you had for the season? We will post the list later today or tomorrow.
Have a great start to your week.
