Please send in final rainfall totals Friday morning and we will show them on NBC Action News and NBC Action Weather Plus!
Good evening bloggers,
I will put some of our rainfall amounts on the blog in a few minutes. We have had over one inch of rain on the Plaza, and I saw two thunderstorms that produced pea to marble size hail. Here is a picture of Ryan holding some Quarter to just under golfball size hail in Overland Park:

There is more rain on the way as the main upper low develops and tracks across western Kansas. There is a disturbance rotating northeast across Oklahoma and this will likely spread another band of rain across us by early in the morning. Then we will get a little rain on the back side of the storm on Friday.
Here are some rainfall totals (as of 9 PM):
- Pleasanton, KS: 1.15"
- Overland Park (80th & Grant): 1.10"
- Roeland Park: 1.08"
- Olathe (151st & Mur-Len): 1.06"
- The Plaza (NBC Action News): 1.03"
- Olathe: 0.92"
- Near Olathe North High School: 0.83"
- Shawnee: 0.81"
- Lenexa: 0.75"
- Between Garden City & Creighton: 0.60"
- Raytown, MO: 0.50"
- Lee's Summit, MO: 0.39"
The weather pattern is continuing to cycle. Colder air is forecast to build across Canada this weekend as a much larger upper low forms over the western United States. This will send a cold front our way early next week, and then we will have some set-ups that could bring us more rain, and cool weather later in the week. This is a bit complex, and why I issued the "weird weather pattern alert" a few days ago. I will talk more about this on Friday.
And, I would love to meet you. Come on by the Price Chopper on 119th and Metcalf Saturday around noon. I will be there with Stormy from noon until around 1 PM helping them sell weather radios.
Gary
