Good late afternoon bloggers,
4 PM update:
We continue to monitor the developments over our region. Nothing has formed as of 4 PM over western Kansas. Some drizzle is trying to form as a weak circulation is evident on the satellite movie over central Kansas. The atmosphere is too stable for any thunderstorm development ahead of this disturbance. It is becoming more unstable over western Kansas, but the surface low is over the mountains at 4 PM, and this is one of the reasons for no thunderstorm development out west, so far. There are two more good chances for rain and thunderstorms showing up in the next 72 hours. #1: Friday morning as the cold front moves through, and #2: Saturday night as the next cold front moves through. There will also be a possible frost or light freeze Saturday morning and Monday morning. We will be tracking all of these developments on our newscasts tonight on NBC Action News in HD, that's right HD. We debuted in HD at 11 AM this morning.

As we move through the afternoon, the moderate risk of severe thunderstorms continues way off to our northwest as you can see in the last blog. We still see very limited chance that we even have a shower between now and midnight. If we see any evidence of this threat shifting east we will blog later this afternoon.
Here are a couple of pictures from this mornings visit to Aquilla, downtown. It was bring your son's and daughter's to work day and the kids were very nice to Stormy. Stormy did a great job performing her tricks too:

Have a great day. We will be tracking any developing thunderstorms later today on NBC Action News in HD!
