Great coverage, team!

It was only windy here for a few minutes here at I-635 and 38th street area in Kansas City Kansas.  Will they expire the Tornado Watch soon?

Here in KCK it was 67 degrees for a bit and it went back up to 70 to 72 degrees now it is about 57 degrees.

Thank you for the coverage!  I was able to go out and prepare a bit.  We had horrible winds here.  I can't give you a wind estimate but they were STRONG.  It's still raining heavily here.  Lots of lightning.  I can't tell if we have any tree damage or not.  The rest of the household got woken up by the storm.

Oh, and it's 72 degrees and we're getting strong gusts. My well built house was creaking.

Great job all day and night keeping us covered.   Many thanks for staying up all night with us Jeremy.    In OP just had the gusty winds and heavy rain, but not much of a problem.

I really like the coverage that we get from the weather team on NBC action news.  

OH MY GOD!  I was awakened from a mix of the power flashing and a roar from outside unlike anything I can recall ever hearing!  I don't know if that roar was a result of the sustained winds or the way it was pouring unlike anything I've recently seen or just a combination of that and the constant rolling thunder or what.  But I don't think I've ever heard a continual roaring like that before.  I'm sure I can't be the only one who thought that sound was really odd.

By the way, great job team and way to predict this line of storms.  For probably the last 2 days your powercast had a line of storms rolling through at 2-3am.  You got it almost to the minute.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen winds that fast. I woke up and I thought there was a tornado above my house because it was shaking. I wish these didn't keep happening at night, it would've been incredible to see this storm move in.

You're too kind Kristi, but you have a big day ahead of you. Some sleep will help you get thru it.

Had 40-50 mph winds in Lenexa with some pea to penny sized hail. No damage as far as I can see.

I can't believe I still have power.  Are we done for the night?  After all this, still having the tornado watch til 8am makes me wonder.

WOW-I woke up to this horrible sound and immediately jumped on here to see what was going on. Thank you Team for informing us even at this early hour.  I have never seen or heard anything like this.  Everything was blowing sideways and trees bending.  The sound though was a roar.  I called my husband who is working at the fire dept now and woke him. I was debating to get the boys out of bed and go to the basement. I know you said it was just wind but it was so scary sounding.  I live in Liberty and it lasted 10-15 min.  It thin hit Kearney where my husband is and he then understood why I was so scared.  He said it sounded like a tornado.  Shingles were flying...  We have power still.  Thank you for letting us know this was not a tornado and high winds (though high does not give that justice).  

Quite calm out now...rumbles of thunder are reducing in frequency as well as lightning.  Think I am gonna call it a night.  I was kinda hoping to catch what was supposed to be a repeat of tonights episode of ER.  A lot of my tv shows got pre-empted to warn about weather and ER got pre-empted TWICE!  But what Jeremy had for us was more important!  will they try to reschedule ER again Jeremy?!?!?! can ya find out?

NOAA short-term for me: 50-70 mph winds and qtr size hail by 3 or 3:30. Uh, just heard a rumble. Still 71 degrees

In excelsior Springs right now we have some minor roof damage strong winds went through @ about 65+  mph. Power still on at this time

Well we did not get any of the "severe" stuff up here, but we did get whacked with a very heavy downpour, strong wind gusts, Maybe around 40 m.p.h. or so and lots of bright lighting. Sounds bad for K.C., watched the scout cams on the coverage and know about the in excess of 80 m.p.h. winds parts of K.C. got.  Well a very stormy night for sure, looks like this may be your guys "ice storm" event of the year in terms of widespread damage, good night and stay safe down there.

Wow! What lightening and the roar of thunder. Very windy in La Cygne, but nothing like up north. And huge rain drops! 1 drop seems like teaspoon size! I hope everyone up North is safe and has mininmal damage. :(

I did a look around from the covered part of the deck since it is still storming...  I did not see any limbs on the ground.  I don't know if any are hung up in the trees.  I will have to check in the morning.  It felt good when I stepped out on the deck.

From 435 Highway and 96th street just north of shoal creek golf course: camped out with wireless internet on laptop on battery in basement. a very scary waking at 2:00am when power flashed and power lost, sudden onset of "freight train" sounding wind, scambled to collect belongings and cats nd head downstairs. breif pause to evaluate exterior: some small debris and various outdoor furinture that I do not recogonize in backyard. unable to recieve any AM station radio signals because or arching power lines in area. have cell phone and whats left of battery on laptop with wireless card to evaulate situation. Really scary stuff up here, have never in 40 years of weather "geeking" been scared by winds like this. really thought we were in the real deal there. No way to pin point wind speed, but had to be 60+ MPH. -Hunkered down for now.

I have been in 2 hurricanes in my life and this event really brought back those memories.  

WOW!!! I woke up due to 3 screaming girls...so I came in to check in. First thing when my computer woke up I saw radar up their and thought, "holy smokes..look at that bow echo!!!" And that was WITHOUT looking at the headline on the blog, LOL...I was proud of myself. I bet that was something else to experience...it looked like it was a strong one. I have some wind, rain and very small hail but that is it so far. Hang on to your hats KC Metro!!

The sound as the storm went by reminded me of the movie White Squall.  It was a high whistling sound.  Also, notice how low the pressure has dropped.  29.29 in.  It really was a mini hurricane!

At 72nd and Euclid in Gladstone.... five homes destroyed and twenty others damaged.  I wonder if that was a microburst.

Still unable to receive any radio due to interference from storm and power arching, is there more in the pipeline? I have no way to be sure, but I seriously think we experienced a microburst here at 435 hwy and 96th street just west of Liberty.

I'm not too worried at this point but I did decide to move away from sliding glass door. FYI: temp dropped 12 degrees in less than ten min.

Can someone please give a damage report? Still storming pretty good here, is the more in the pipeline? What are the current warnings? Hearing emergency vehicle sirens but no power here to see anything?

Wow! and i don't have a bow like you all had. Rain dumping and hitting all sides of the house. Getting my windows washed ;-)

Boise, I think you're ok. I think you've weathered the worst of it.

Still awake because the thunder is still pretty loud here... Boise I hope you and your neighbors get power back soon and they are just saying wrap around rain.  nothing more severe it sounds like.  Sounds like Gladstone took a beating and has some significant damage.  Only daylight will show the true destruction left behind from the storms.  Take care and watch for downed power lines.

I'm just a little bit east of Vivion Road & North Oak in the Northland and only had the power flicker when the storm ROARED through at 2am but it seems like the apartment building next to me might be without power.  I say this because since that time I haven't seen one light from any of the windows that face me.  Either that or they all slept through things.  This will be one I probably won't forget anytime soon.

Anyone in the Independence Mo area. My sister says there is alot of damage. Said that the Dollar Store and Taco Bell off of 291 is gone! Power lines are snapped in two, trees down, fences torn up, her car is crushed!

First post. . . I'm at 49th  & Sterling In Kansas City and running on gen power now.  Power has been out for a while now.  Made a quick trip around the neighborhood and there's lots of tree down.

I stood and watched the Tornado that hit Stockton, MO a few years back and that's what these winds sounded like.  With a single window open 8 inches I couldn't pull the door to my office open. I'll admit. . . I was scared.
