NBC Action Weather Blog

Blog out of control

Good afternoon bloggers,

Unfortanately some bad language and emotional outbursts entered our blog today. This is too bad.  I will open the blog up for comments again soon.  But, please remember the rules, as we have worked way too hard to make the NBC Action Weather Blog a fun, educational, and information filled place to share weather thoughts and information.

  • Please do not use, or imply any bad language.
  • Please try to understand other bloggers feelings and don't respond emotionally.
  • Please talk about the weather in our weather blog.
  • Please don't mention competitors by name.

I will leave the comments off until we have all read this.  We are tracking potential thunderstorms this evening.  They are forming along the cold front right now.  Watch NBC Action News for details.

Gary

Thank you Gary for finally stepping in.  This blog was getting way out of control and something needed to be done.

If you look at the radar image below, you'll see the colf front forming on a line parallel to I-35 from Camdon, MO to OKC, OK.

Storms are continuing to grow on the Kansas side.  With that said, the NWS does not have anything indicating that severe weather is going to happen.  Most likely just some regular thunderstorms.

I hope everybody has read what Gary said.  Its sad that it had to come to this, but maybe thats what it takes for people to understand that they need to act like adults.

Have a nice evening.

Thank you so much Gary. I got on the blog abaout a half an hour and was reading through people's comments and couldn't believe what some people said. I am so happy that you intervened. This is I think the second "disgraceful" day of comment on the blog, but last time on religion and this time with juvinality and implying swearing you jumped in. Just wondering, is there a moderator, because I think it might be a good idea. Thanks again!

I know this is KSHB's blog, but here is latest NWS forecast. Precip chances have gone from 60% yesterday to 30 % in the latest entry.

.DAY ONE...REST OF THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT

A COLD FRONT STRETCHED FROM BETHANY TO KANSAS CITY LATE THIS
AFTERNOON WITH THE FRONT PRESSING SOUTHEAST. MOISTURE WAS SLOWLY
INCREASING AHEAD OF THE FRONT...BUT A STRONG CAP IN THE MID LEVELS
OF THE ATMOSPHERE WAS INHIBITING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE
THUNDERSTORMS. THE CAP WILL WEAKEN LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY
THIS EVENING...WITH SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
MAINLY SOUTH OF A LINE FROM PAOLA TO MARSHALL TO BOONVILLE BY EARLY
THIS EVENING. INSTABILITY WILL REMAIN WEAK...BUT ISOLATED SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS ARE STILL POSSIBLE WITH LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS
ARE THE PRIMARY THREATS.

Here is the best part.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVITY MAY BE NEEDED LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING ALONG
AND SOUTH OF A PAOLA TO MARSHALL TO BOONVILLE LINE.

Wow. I was expecting a Severe Thunderstorm watch not a Tornado watch. Anyway how does tonights royals game look. Do you think that we will get it all in tonight or do u think it could be a rain delay

Kansas City is NOT going to see severe weather tonight. The main trigger is already halfway through the metro and it's too cloudy to cause any differential heating to get storms going.

I'm not staying...But I just wanted to appologize for my part in the negative action that happened in the blog a little while ago. I got way too emotionally involved in what was happening and I let my anger get the best of me. My motto this whole time has been Peace Love and Weather but I temporarily lost site of that and i'm Very sorry....I hope you can all forgive me for the things that I commented and I will work very hard to make this blog a peaceful place instead of a hateful one...Peace LOVE and Weather.

The humidity is as thick as pea soup down here in La Cygne. And now we are in a Tornado Watch. Very sticky and no breeze. Waiting to see if I should bring the horses in or leave them out for a nice spring rain bath.

Ugh tornado watch 1 county to the south of me.  Still feels too close for comfort.  I'm sure it's hard to do, but would anyone like to venture a guess on the time frame of this activity?  Hopefully this is not supposed to be another all night long thing?

Gary thank you for answering my question on the previous blog about comparing forecasts.  I know my answer now and I promise I had no malicious intent in asking.

Gary, I think it's safe to say that Paola northward is just going to miss out on these storms. They just started forming, but it looks a little to far east to make it here on it's NNE track. I was hoping for at least a little excitement(storms).
