NBC Action Weather Blog

6 PM update...front rapidly moving southeast

Good evening bloggers,

We will continue to watch the southern counties closely, but it looks like this will be a marginal severe weather event, if any at all even for those of you way south.

Thanks for reading the last blog, and please let's all stay within the guidelines of the blog from now on.  It only takes one or two people to ruin it for everyone.  We have never had to ban anyone from the blog, and we hope that we never will have to.  So, let's just continue to make this a great destination to discuss the weather.

The cold front has already passed through all of the metro area.  We will look ahead later and on our newscast at 10 PM tonight.

Gary

from previous blog want to make sure everyone sees it...

I just wanted to appologize for my part in the negative action that happened in the blog a little while ago. I got way too emotionally involved in what was happening and I let my anger get the best of me. My motto this whole time has been Peace Love and Weather but I temporarily lost site of that and i'm Very sorry....I hope you can all forgive me for the things that I commented and I will work very hard to make this blog a peaceful place instead of a hateful one...Peace LOVE and Weather.
HailJonathan

HailJonathan,

I am very impressed.  There are so many people that will refuse to admit their mistakes.  Thank you so much.

Your so welcome Gary, I'm crazy about you guys and just being part of this experience I'm extremely knowledgable about weather and have awesome input to this site but I just have some anger issues that get the best of me and it wont do any good to sit back and deny it. I feel bad for what I did and I still want to be part of this. Once again I'm so sorry and I'll do my best to make sure it never happens again.

Anyway I looked at the GFS12 and did the 60Hr and it shows us around 1.50 inches of rain. Are we suppose to get this Wed. and Thursday or is it just not correct

This is great news, maybe some peace and quiet for a change.  Could use some dry weather so I can replace my hail and wind damaged roof.
HailJonathan, it's ok to blow off steam, though sometimes it is hard to manage. You will learn, we all do eventually.

Hi! I am from Gunn City MO, and at 8:23 PM we had pea to quarter size hail, and 20 to 35 mile an hour winds. Gunn City is located in extreme east central cass county for those who don't know where it is.

Ok-finally rain total is .30 for my house just southwest of Kingsville. I have never seen "hail" like that before. It was all completely "flat" and clear but pretty good sized. It sounded like somebody was dropping rocks on my skylight!

thank you for accepting my apology everyone. I've been out most of the evening so I don't know what's been going on weatherwise I just know nothing happened in KCMO or OP,KS. I'm disappointed I know a lot of you are relieved and I'm happy that your wishes came true but I still want my storm. maybe next time.

Well a nice evening in St. Joe with light north winds and temps slipping in the 60's, lots of clouds today with a brief period of drizzle earlier.  this next vort is one of the ones we have seen many times before where the models originally predict it to swing out into the south east, only to later have it lift out further north and west just to the south of K.C., hope Sean and Andrew have some good pictures when they come back, hopefully no damage though.  Really the last two LRC's have really been rough on southern Mo.  Last year they had heavy rains, an ice storm, and some severe weather, and this year it has been full tilt down there.

The NAM does something interesting Thursday night into Friday, with a weird looking area of rain from northwest Missouri into northeast Kansas, apart from the main area of rain from the storm system... I wonder if it is not trying to show a "reflection" of the heavy snow band that would set up across that same area alot this winter, maybe not and it will likely be gone tomorrow, not to mention the GFS is not even showing it, but it is interesting.

I would have expected these storm systems to start transferring farther north with each cycle due to warming but so far I haven't seen that happen very much...so that's interesting that you see that on the models..

but that could also be that it hasn't warmed up very fast this spring..another thing to think about.

Yea, it seems like the vorts try and follow the same paths, as the jet goes further north and gets weaker, and so does the vorts. I to was hoping that we would get some thunderstorms somehow today since it was my day off... Had some good downpours over the weekend here but I was working:(  But there is always next time, maybe we will have a lot of MCS activity this summer, I know those probably are not as good to "chase" but they can bring heavy thunderstorms to a wide area.  Well it is a calm night here so I think I am going to hit the hay;)
