Good morning bloggers,
Thunderstorms moved across northern Missouri this morning. There is a weak bubble high (a high pressure area created by some rain cooled air, small scale) located over northern Missouri. Rain cooled air has spread out from this bubble high and has shifted our winds to the northeast this morning with a band of clouds moving in from the east. You can see the outflow boundary, below, indicated by the black dashed line. And, the warm front is still south of us, which will be reenforced by this cooler surge.

This cool outflow is very evident this morning with the low cloud surge from the east and northeast. It is stablizing our lower layer, but making the warm front a bit stronger. It could lead to some thunderstorm development near the warm front this afternoon.
Sean Wilson and his crew went out chasing yesterday. Here are a couple of western Kansas pictures. We will try to get his video and other pictures later today.

The chance of rain/thunderstorms will be with us this weekend, but right now we just don't have the upper level support here, so until the warm moist air makes it up here, the thunderstorm chances will remain fairly low.
But, this is not the case over western Kansas where the wind fields at every level seem very favorable for severe thunderstorms again today. Here is the severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center:

I am taking the rest of the day off. Brett, Jeremy, and Jeff will keep you updated with these developments. Brett's got a fishing forecast for you, here's the link. http://community.nbcactionnews.com/blogs/brett_anthonys_blog/default.aspx
If you want to meet Stormy, pick up a weather radio and have it programmed, or even meet me, then come by the Price Chopper in Parkville on Saturarday morning between 10 and 11 AM.
