Good late evening bloggers,
Updated at 10:35 PM: Who is staying up with us? The hockey game is into the second overtime. Thunderstorms are still hours away, but areas near and north of I-70 could have another MCS tonight. So, are you with me for the late newscast?
I will be all over this tonight at 10 PM, but a few interesting things are going on. You do know what rule #1 of forecasting is, don't you? Always look outside because you never know. I just looked outside and the sky was rippling with altocumulus clouds, and this tells me thunderstorms will be forming soon. They may form just north of Kansas City, but I am convinced they will form.
A thunderstorm, west of Salina, is struggling inside the cap. There is a strong cap that has formed. Did you know it was 110 degrees out over southwestern Kansas today? Wow! Anyway, this thunderstorm as it moves east seems to be getting its act together. I am expecting thunderstorm development between this cell, and the thunderstorms forming to our northeast. The Storm Prediction Center has put out a new Severe Thunderstorm Watch well off to our northeast, but let's watch this closely tonight. Large hail is once again the main threat.
We will go into the rest of the week's set-ups on the air and in tomorrows blog. Watch our 10 PM show, in a few minutes.
