First T-Storm breaks through cap

Good evening bloggers,

If you have severe weather photos from the storms this evening please send them to lezak@nbcactionnews.com

Please tune into NBC tonight as we will cut into programming with any warnings to keep everyone safe!

Go to  severestorms.com/livechase   for a chaser that is in our local area providing us with instant updates!  Sean Wilson is also all over this storm and Skytracker is also following this cell!

I am on in a few minutes.  Jeremy Nelson is on his way in. Brett Anthony is in Skytracker.  We will be all over this threat during the evening hours.  So, watch NBC Action News for live updates of this developing severe weather situation.

A cumulonimbus cloud just broke through the cap east of KCI airport.  It is the first one to break through and a clear sign that there will be many others. Hail is the main threat again today, and we will see if any supercells develop mesocyclones and any tornado threats.  There is a chance.

Bloggers, please keep reporting what you experience as we will be checking in for your valuable and helpful information.

Here is the Tornado Watch outline for the area.

This day has had one of those ominous "something is going to happen" feels to it all day. I can't describe it; must be one of those things hardwired in us from thousands of years ago.

Keep your weather radios on, and don't forget to look outside.

Going to take the dogs out in a few and empty the rain gauge.  Hopefully my garden will get a good drink (hold the ice please, lol)

One of the clouds sprinkled on me as I was pulling out of the parking lot, but it wasn't much.  Just enough to spot up the dust.

Ok, quick intro here... Long time lurker, first time poster... Sitting in western Shawnee at SMPkwy & Monticello. Saw the weird looking cloud lowering when I was out at the 3&2 ball fields. We left (me and the littlest tyke). I am super freaked out at the chase came. Where is he now? Looking out my west window, I see sun-ish stuff to the NW and a nice shelf of dark blue to the SW. Had pea sized hail off and on for 15 minutes with buckets o' rain.

It seems so wierd to be watching all this stuff on TV and online, and then look outside my window and see sun and clear skies.  I live up north off of 291 near the May tornado scene, and it looks nice outside.  Up north you can see the clouds for the storms that caused the tornado warning to be issued and they are very puffy.  We are hearing very faint thunder and had some rain drops, but as of right now nothing.

Anyone know if this is going to stay south of us?

Watching this stuff on TV, I'm really surprised that there are no tornado warnings issue -- especially considering what happened up here in May.

Has a tornado touched down on ANY of these training storms in JOCO?

NO!!!

Have we seen rotation in all of the storms moving through JOCO?

YES!!!

The training effect of the storms really eliminate a true tornado threat on a line of training T-Storms.

You see Tornadoes in isolated cells ahead of a training event...

Not in a training group of storms.

Relax and enjoy watching the rotation without the risk.  NWS has done a DAMN GOOD JOB not creating fear when fear need not be created.
