Good morning bloggers,
Strong to severe thunderstorms moved across late Sunday afternoon. Rainfall amounts have varied quite a bit. But, I have had 1.74" on the south side of Overland Park, which puts my rainfall total for the month up to 6.83". This rate can't continue all month long, or we would end up with nearly 20 inches of rain in some spots. There is another chance of thunderstorms showing up for Thursday, with some chance of severe weather. But, severe weather season may be about to considerably slow down, if not end, very soon. I will go into more details of the weather pattern, and how summer is showing stronger signs of moving in, later this afternoon. Severe weather season almost always comes to a close by the middle of June, at least the significant tornado threats, anyway, as there still may be MCS activity into the summer, depending on the weather pattern, so just because our tornado threats may be ending soon, it doesn't mean it will completely dry out.
There is one more very nice area of rain moving across this morning that could add another 1/4 to 1/2" to the rainfall totals. How much rain have you had in the past 24 hours, and for the month of June so far? KCI airport, again, had one of the lowest amounts:
Rainfall totals:
- Overland Park, KS: 1.74" (6.83" in June)
- Grandview, MO: 1.85" (6.55" in June)
- Grain Valley, MO: 2.12" (5.59" in June)
- Olathe, KS 151st & Mur-Len: 1.40" (6.24" in June)
- Lee's Summit, MO: 1.54" (4.97" in June)
- Kansas City, KS (N 18 & State): 1.27" (3.47" in June)
- Lawrence, KS: 1.46" (3.44" in June)
- KCI: 0.81" (1.55" in June)
Sunday was the 21st annual Dog-n-Jog benefitting the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. Stormy and I ran the one mile in 9 minutes. After June 13th you can go to http://www.thomasphotographic.com/ and purchase your own memories from the Dog-n-Jog.

Have a great day. We will discuss the overall weather pattern later on today. Be sure to watch NBC Action News for Kansas City's most accurate forecast.
