NBC Action Weather Blog

5:50 PM update

Good evening everyone,

It isn't easy back here in the NBC Action News empty studio.  Two things, watch in a few minutes as we are going to spin the live web camera around to show us doing the weather at the wall.  And, then, we will put it back in place and I will show what is going on in here.  And, secondly, we revised our weather page again today.  What do you think?  Did you like what we were doing, or do you like these adjustments?

Here is the link to the camera:  http://www.nbcactionnews.com/studio

Cool, I just wish the camera wasn't so static like and everything moved in real time. It used to do that, move in real time. But besides that it was really cool!

Cool show Gary- it was neat watching you on the Green screen- the new page design is good- this is your weather page so put the "Most Read Stories"  towards the bottom- I also like the Blog section on the Right hand side-below the Most Read Stories..

Thats my 2 cents!

Thanks JP, we are still in the process of redesign.

Can't please everyone I suppose...

I liked the previous change better.  The hover function was more friendly, and I liked the forecast as the first thing you see...

Now, I just get current conditions which I can effectively get looking out the window.

Also, what happened to the time lapse on the American Century cam?

;-)

Scott,

I agree with most of what you are saying.  I do like the forecast under the large map.  The first thing you should see is the functional map.  I don't like that we lost the feature of just moving the mouse over it, but if you click it does work.  And, the Am. Century time-lapse still works.  We will be adding other camera's as well.

But, overall, I liked the other one, and hopefully we can get it back and work from there.

Scratch that on the time lapse...it worked this time.

Seems things work sometimes and other times don't.  Hearing that general theme from others, I can't think all of our computers are acting up.

I do know we all use different types of browsers and operating systems..perhaps there is something with that?

Gary,

I really like the new weather page...much better than the last.  Also, it was really cool to see the studio get broken down.  I was watching the live feed but it was dark...it's late so that may be why.  I will check it out again later.

Good luck to all of you during this transition period:)

I agree with you kcwxguy. I like this new one, but I almost think I like the old one better.

It is a compromise from Corporate.  If we liked the other way the maps worked, there is still a chance of getting it back.  We have a lot of distractions right now.
