Rain has been coming down at a steady pace for about 20 minutes now. Looks like our day on the lake might be canceled, or maybe we will have a couple of hour break before we get more. So hoping for a cleaning from 11-3 over Lake Jacomo.

The set looks wonderful.  This weather also looks wonderful.  Our family is suffering the dreaded summer colds so cooler weather for a few days will be much appreciated!  Everyone have a great weekend!!!!

Oh  great...the rodeo tonight should be a muddy mess down here. Ugh! Go figure...lololol, should smell real good for us. :o) I think this is the kind of rain you all were predicting on, was it Wednesdsay?? Oh well....maybe Sunday will be good for The Race for the Cure run!! Have a great day. I will let you know if we get stuck in the mud at the fair grounds, hee hee!!!

Jeremy, when you say the rain pushes to the south of KC by night - Is that out of our viewing area or south of Linn County - La Cygne? Now the basement has sprung a leak! So waiting on getting that repaired. They sure don't build houses like they used too!!! Hope I only get a few inches of rain.

The northern edge of the rain is just establishing itself near or just northeast of the KC metro area.  It may not budge until after midnight tonight.  So, when you go into the rain you are likely in it for 12 hours, at least.

The rain seems to be moving much more southeast than east.  Could we just miss it?  I'm at 114 and Phlumm in Lenexa....looks like it's going to just glide by to my southwest.  

What a year, rain every what, 3 - 4 days?  Not complaining, I think I've only watered once this year.  :o)  

I am curious about today & tomorrow though.... how is it looking for the Royals game at the K?  Is the 'blob' of rain going to park over the stadium

Its been raining steadily all morning down here in drexel. Flash flooding will more than likely be an issue here within a couple hours.

Well we got skunked on this one, that is one thing that I hate, having a storm system get so close to you that the cloud cover moves in but the rain stops just short, oh well just have to wait until next time, nice and cool though.

I still can't get the weatherplus station to work on my computer, it has the NBC Action News logo where the video should be and it says to click below for video and there is a black bar below it will pause, play, and stop options, and I will click play and it just won't respond maybe there is something I need on the computer for it to work but I'm not sure. Oh, well I can't complain though with the blog and everything, but it would be nice to be able to watch your 24 hour weather channel once in a while;)

I would like to put a mini weather station on my deck, can any of you give me some guidance on where a good place to look for one would be.  Id like to know wind speed, rainfall meter, temp, etc

nothing too expensive or too big....but something that is fun and easy to set up.

It looks like the rain may stay just south of KC now.  I wouldn't say with 100% certainty that you are done, but if you don't see anything more by 6-7 p.m. you likely are done.  Areas just to the south will likely see rain this evening and tonight.  That's why the FF Watch is in place to the south.

A whopping .14" here in western Shawnee.  Looks like just a bit farther west and we would have been in the 1" + category.  No complaints though, i'm sure my AC has appreciated the break in temps.

YEAH!!! Looks like the rain is heading out around Long View Lake. Time to go and load the horses for the show. Great showing weather for August. Might be TOO cool and the horses will be feeling good.

Although, La Cygne is still getting rain and the Linn County fair might be wet for the Rodeo tonight. Take your rain gear Monica!

Well, I think the rain will miss us again. The percentages for me on NWS went down. It is never a good sign when the percentages go down.

SW corner of Lawrence checking and it is looking like today's rain event is about over with, so put me down for .38" of wet in what has been one the nicest and slowest rains we have had in many a month.

And you know I do believe I hear all those little green guys that live out on our lawn saying Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, and now should tomorrow be dry they will  be receiving their first haircut in several weeks.

I will be leaving about 5:30p to go to KCI to get my daughter. SHe has spent all summer with the evil otehr side. Will SHawnee get any rain while I am gone? If we are safe from storms for awhile I will leave the furry dogs outside to enjoy the cooler weather.

Our local cable company in St. Joe has been adding new digital and HD channels, so I hope maybe they will decide to add NBC action Wxplus, but unfortunately they have already added a 24 hour "weather channel" from another K.C. station so I am concerned.  Actually they kind of already have two "local weather channels" because they run a news/weather channel of their own at St. Joe Cablevision.
Well it is definitely an unusual August day here in St. Joe.

As of 4:00P we have had 1.40 inches of rain today at my house in SW Topeka.  It's been a steady rain all day.

Hohum, another storm completely skips the northland, and pretty much the entire metro.  I suppose there won't be any admission of this being a botched forecast though since someone in the viewing area half a state large saw some rain.  This doesn't much seem like a new pattern to me, just a different way for the same pattern to skip the areas that have been continually missed for the last year.

No way this was a busted forecast, Gary clearly stated what would happen today during all the shows yesterday.  And yes it did rain in parts of the metro, up to a half inch in spots.  Gary even mentioned that temperatures would fall into the 60s.  I saw 2 other forecast yesterday and the highs for today ranged from 81-84 for KC and had the rain at night.  Gary went 74 with clouds and some showers last night after the Olympics...sounds like what happened today.  I think you can order an air check of the 5, 6, or 10pm shows:)

Zazel...I can appreciate your frustration.  The forecast was very good for today.  I am not sure how you think the rain missed much of the metro as KMCI, St. Joe, and points in OP and south have gotten rain.

Who has gotten skipped this year?  From Winter through Summer, all points north, west, east, and south of us have had activity.  The metro has gotten its share.  Fair snow, active Spring, wet early Summer, heck..even a quick heatwave.

I think everyone has had their fair share...I am basing my thoughts on pattern change more to the upper levels and surface trends.

Jeremy - as far as weather equipment, I am the wrong person to ask - sorry.  I do not have a weather station...I use data from those near me.

It has not been a wash out today..thank goodness. I have .70 inches so far with a nice light rain still falling. Two good things about the weather today...my hubby put down ant/bug killer and fertilizer and we are getting a nice steady rain for that to soak in,  plus it is not 103. So I should not sweat to death at the rodeo for once. LOL!!! Have a good evening.

got a nice soaking here in raymore this morning, than the rain stopped around 1130 so our day at the lake was great. it was some what cool but a day that I love. I hate hot weather so this was perfect.

What I did get, didn't even measure in the gauge.
Seems the KCI force field is in full effect, I am watering the lawn now. Drat.
