Good morning bloggers,
First of all, have you been watching the Olympics? Jason Lezak, who helped the USA win the gold in the men's 400 free-style relay, is not related to me, "If Michael Phelps breaks the Olympic gold medal record, he might just have U.S. teammate Jason Lezak to thank for it. Lezak mounted a spectacular comeback against France's Alain Bernard in the last 50 meters of the men's 400-meter freestyle relay on Monday, and the Americans snatched gold in a race they looked sure to lose". I didn't even know other Lezak's existed until 4 years ago when Jason Lezak made it to the Olympic team.
Anyway, now onto the weather. We believe that the LRC, as we have experienced it this year, has gone through a transition. The pattern we are seeing right now is still somewhat related to the LRC 2007-2008, but there are some different things happening that convince me that it is now a hybrid of the old pattern. Look below at the two maps:

The flow over North America has split, and there is one stream coming right over us from the northwest, keeping our weather cooler than average. And, there is the main jetstream over Canada. On the second map below, some energy starts sagging/digging into the plains states this week. By Thursday night and Friday an upper low is forecast to develop somewhere to our northwest. This is still somewhat related to the pattern that we have been in all year, but there are some subtle differences. I want to watch how this storm evolves and develops. It is still looking like one of our "slide by" storms that we first saw in October last year. So, let's keep watching how this storm develops, forms, moves, tracks, and falls apart, as it will help me explain how there is something different going on. And, according to my theory, the LRC, next year's weather pattern won't really show up and develop until after around October 1st. These developments now are just an indication of some chaotic, yet gradual transition.

This next storm system holds a lot of uncertainties on how it will affect our weather. We will be tracking these developments on our newscasts tonight. There is no midday show today because of the Olympics, but we will be on at 5, 6, and then 11 PM tonight. Our late newscasts will be on at 11 PM each night, except for Wednesday and Thursday night when we are on at midnight.
Have a great start to your week. There is a weak backdoor front that has stalled west of Kansas City this morning. As this drifts back to the east tonight I am expecting some thunderstorms to develop. So, our next chance of rain will be tonight and early on Tuesday.
And, even though Jason Lezak is getting all of the attention today, I thought I would throw in a picture with my trainer David. David has been training me for two years now, and as hard as it has been, I am dedicated, although he says I wine way too much while I am working out. Here is a picture on Saturday night, he and his wife took me out to dinner where we were supposed to eat healthy. I am on my way to workout right now, it's chest day:
