NBC Action Weather Blog

Early morning blog

Good Friday morning bloggers,

Thank you so much for staying up with us tonight.  We are actually coming on at 12:15 AM tonight!

The weather pattern is going through some subtle changes, and I think we are heading back to some 90 degree days within a week.  Here is the GFS forecast for one week from today:

The heights will likely be rising, and depending on the tropical activity, we will likely be heading back up to 90 degrees by the end of next week.  Now, will it rain between now and then?  The latest GFS model has the upper low making a move out into the plains on Monday.  This should bring us some thunderstorms by late Monday or Tuesday.  Below, you can see the rainfall forecast by Tuesday.  Confidence is very low on this possibility right now.

Have a great Friday.  We will update the blog later today.  Tropical Storm Fay may be forming in the Atlantic Ocean.

Gary

I hope it rains between then. I wonder what the fall colors will look like this season with all of the rain that has fallen thus far?

.20" at Jhonson County Executive Airport. We've got low liying fog, I mean it isn't going above the fences but it's thick, the only places it rised up is by the creek on pflumm road, that lace must have terrible visabilities!

just had a nice rain shower...lasted about 20 minutes...

A few t-storms near Bethany right now.  Isolated showers and storms should swing through this afternoon before we dry out and sunshine returns for the weekend!

It is raining at a good clip outside. Woops as soon as I type that its over. What caused these storms to form?

Alex

A little disturbance, some cool air aloft, daytime heating, and dew points are still in the 60s.  Not so much at the surface, but there is a nice wind shift aloft too.  Looks like a couple of t-storms have popped in Leavenworth County.

It downpoured here just north of Basehor for about 15 minutes--maybe a quarter of an inch. :)  Love it, no watering here today!
