Good morning everyone,
We are in the circulation of the remnants of Gustav today. Rainfall amounts will vary from 1/4 inch west (Leavenworth, Tonganoxie & Lawrence), 1/2" to 2" central (Kansas City, Independence, Olathe, Overland Park, Grandview, Lee's Summit) to possibly over 4 inches of rain east and southeast (Warrensburg, Harrisonville, Odessa, Oak Grove, Richmond). If Gustav tracks slightly farther west then the rainfall amounts will be higher, but a slightly farther east track and the rainfall amounts will be lower. The track and rainfall pattern is still uncertain and we really won't know for sure until sometime later this afternoon or evening.
It will be breezy and much colder, very fall like today. The dewpoints have dropped into the 50s so if it rains steadily the temperatures will likely drop to near the dewpoint.
The latest model guidance is coming out wet. And, the radar trends confirm a wetter forecast. We are still on the edge, but look at the NAM forecast rainfall by 1 PM Thurday:

Wow, what a dramatic change today. 86 to 92 degrees the past two days and 50s today. Have a fantastic day, and as Gustav makes the expected northward move we will have live updates on our newscasts at 11 AM, 5, 6, and 10 PM on NBC Action News.
