A Nice Break Ahead...

Watch NBC Action News HD for Kansas City's most accurate forecast!

Good Sunday bloggers!  This weekend felt very fall-like across the area with lots of clouds, cool temperatures, and some rain.  The good news for many is that sunshine is on the way for much of this week with temperatures warming up a bit each day.  I'm ready for a break and hopefully you are too.  I'm sure we have lots of excitement ahead, but this week of quiet weather will be nice.  My goal for Monday is to cut my lawn...which is getting out of control!

Here's a look at some of our rainfall statistics at KCI so far this month and year.

September Total:  8.84" (+6.70")

If my research is correct this now ranks as the 10th wettest September in Kansas City weather history.  The wettest September ever was 16.17" back in 1914.

2008 Total:  36.25" (+8.04")

Expect clearing skies from west to east tonight with temperatures falling into the 40s.  Highs on Monday will top out in the upper 60s, with some 70-72 degree highs around Lawrence, Topeka, Emporia.  On Tuesday and Wednesday morning we'll have to watch out for areas of fog...which could be dense in spots.

Tune into the newscasts this evening and after football for the latest on the forecast.  I'll try to add some more thoughts this evening and a picture or two.  Thanks for stopping by this weekend, we had a lot of traffic!

NO RAIN FOR TEN DAYS AT LEAST SO THE FIELDS CAN DRY, CORN NEEDS TO DRY AND BEENS ARE STILL GROWING.....  NO MORE AND A 15-30 mph wind will help dry as much as 77-81.

Grr when I don't realize there is a new blog. To repost:
Scott, Friday caught me totally off guard. When I left to get my daughter at school at 3pm for an appt in Leawood I was just happy the rain had cut down to sprinkles and pretty much stopped. The next thing I know around 1700 the ex is calling , telling me there is a warning for Johnson County. I did NOT want to be caught on 435 in OP during rush hour. I guess I have watched Sean drive enough now to safely but expediently get to an area where I could pull over somewhere if need be. I am training Kristen to watch the clouds so she can go with me next season. She had her eye on the right clouds just in case. Even though nothing happened in my area , I prefer to err on the side of caution and am also aware that many people on the road are oblivious as to what is going on, as evidenced by the many folks we saw driving INTO the storms we chased that were not chasers.

I cannot believe the Chargers lost. I told my dad I am so mad at his buddy Ed H., the ref.

I thought today felt great even with the wind. The sun poked through a couple times, and after not seeing it for a few days, it was pretty bright. Then some mist came through.

I just cant believe I got 7.30 inches of rain here in Marceline. I recieved a little over an inch last night with Ike.

Looks like Powercast nailed it again with that band of heavier rainfall.

Once again 7.30 inches Wed through Sun here in Marceline =]

Hi Jeremy,
Just back from a trip to Beloit, KS, northweat of Salina.  I left Friday after work and drove west on K-10 toward Lawrence.  The rain came in torrents from all directions, it was quite frightening for awhile.  I turned on the radio after driving through the downpour to hear the news of the tornadoes passing overhead right where I was driving!  I'm glad I didn't know then, what I know now...ha!
In Paola we got a 4 day total of 5.4", way too much for me!  Glad I was gone.  We had beautiful sunshiny weather in Beloit.  It was a nice drive back today, pretty much, uneventful, just the way I like it.

So to anyone in the weather center that can tell me... Our air conditioner gave out on us and we wont be able to replace it until next spring.  Can you please tell me if you think we'll be okay for the rest of this year?  It can get awfully warm in the living room if the temp gets close to 80...and if its humid it ugh too.  : )

I would say there will be days that the a/c will still be needed over the next month.
