NBC Action Weather Blog

A Huge Thank You...Blogger Pictures...And More Nice Weather!

Watch NBC Action News HD for the latest weather information all weekend long from 8-9 a.m. and at 5 & 10 p.m.

I want to start off this blog by sending a huge thank you to everyone that stopped by our booth at the Plaza Art Fair this evening!  Gary and I met a lot of our bloggers and can now finally put a face to the name!  We also had a large number of people stop by and say "I watch you guys because you really are the most accurate".  I know this is Gary's goal in weather forecasting to make people realize that there is a forecast you can consistently count on.  Since I'm normally stuck at work all weekend it was a nice change to meet some of our viewers and bloggers today.

Here is a picture from the Art Fair of weather blogger Randy from Chillicothe, his fiancee Lisa, Gary, Stormy, and me!

Here is a picture of Nicole who came by to say hi to us!  Gary kind of made it into the picture too:)

Blogger Addog from Drexel, MO made the drive to Kansas City to visit us too!

Alright...now onto the weather.  Sunday will likely mirror the weather we had on Saturday with a mix of sun and clouds and a slight chance of an afternoon shower or t-storm.  With the ULL to our southeast moving slowly away the rain chance is only about 10%.  Highs on Sunday should be around 80 once again.

I think the main focus of the 7 day forecast should be on the potential for warmer temperatures by the mid and end of next week.  Highs could be 10 degrees above average with mid to upper 80s in spots.  Don't give up on summer yet, even though Fall officially begins on Monday at 10:44 a.m.  An upper level ridge will move into the central U.S. and this should keep us mainly dry and warm for the upcoming week.  Here's the 500mb map from the 18Z GFS for Thursday.

Sorry about the late update to the blog today.  We were all pulled in different directions today and our normal newscasts didn't happen because of golf.  We are back on schedule on Sunday with our morning show from 8-9 a.m.  An afternoon show at 5 p.m. and our late news after NFL football around 10:30 p.m.

Gary......My mom and step-dad stopped by and had your sign my twin boys' water bottles last night.  They loved the opportunity to pet Stormy.  She said that you were very kind and patient with them.  Thanks for all you do.......

gfs doesnt know the meaning of consistency right now...there had been hints of a 23-25th storm for weeks, so i still think that the front isnt going to wash out.  it may not be a 'cold' one afterall, but it should stll be there atleast.  i see things getting much more active upstream, so its only a matter of time before the nw flow brings in these troughs from the west.  i still believe the first few days of october will bring rainy cold conditions.

This weather is nice, but I am bored out of my mind with it. I don't think I could handle living in SoCal if this is what it is like all the time. Figures that the first week of fall will be the warmest of September. Bring on the first frost!

******************

We may see a few storms around in the late Tuesday or Wednesday time frame.
