Dense fog....Saturday morning question

Good Saturday morning bloggers,

Dense fog formed in many spots overnight and it will be a while before the fog lifts and the clouds clear.  This is the forecast problem of the day.  When will the sky clear and what will today's high be?  Here is another question:

Do you want it to be a cold & storm winter season?  Yes or No

Vote today here in the blog.  Or you can email us at weather@NBCActionNews.com

I am doing the weekend morning shows today and Sunday morning on NBC Action News.  Brett Anthony is working tonight as Jeremy won't be back until Sunday night.

Back to the other question of the day.  I think it will be cloudy until late morning or into the early afternoon.  This will likely keep the high temperatuure today in the 60s.  The next few days will warm up into the 70s as a strong storm approaches the area.  I will be talking about this storm at 8 AM this morning.

Don't forget the time change tonight.  The extra hour is not only going to help with some sleep tonight, but the NEW DATA will now be coming in one hour earlier!  YES!

Have a great day!

Gary

I side with Jeremy on the winter issue, so I cast all my electoral votes for NO-(I-Wisconsin)!
I think 70 may be doable at KCI today, but we'll see...

I am not so sure.  The sun will have to come out before 1 PM to do it.

Goodness how this parallels this coming Tuesdays decision.  Lots of snow would be good for my economy aka overtime, also good for moral reminding me of my childhood days in Michigan.  Then again it could be dangerous for our personal health care and insurance deductables.   Does anyone have a third option?

Good beautifull Fall Morning to you sir!! Man-it has been so long since I have been able to be a regular on the Blog-I sure hope that changes here soon-I really miss it!!Things have been kind of turned upsdie here as I (empasis on the pronoun I and I will leave it at that!!) have just moved and had to get a new computer. I am still in SW Lawrence as I moved about 2 streets over from where I was. Needless to say it has been crazy and I am now trying to get caught back up with work.

I have so wanted to write in as I think this month has been very exciting weather wise and in my little hobbyist mind I think it shows that there will be some excitement this winter-not the whole winter as that would go against climatology (I mean very rarely do you have a winter here where the cold will lock in for 3 months strait-too many warm air sources here) but I do think we have seen some things that at times could make this winter just as exciting as last winter.

I don't think I even need to say what type of winter I would like!!! LOL!! The colder and snowier the better. It is winter-let it snow and be cold-when Spring comes, let it warm up and then bring on summer-but from now until April-cold and snowy!!! It is winter and while we are not in the greatest place for winter weather climotology wise, we still get our share-our climate is geared to some cold intrusions in the winter months (unless it is 2 million years ago when this whole area was a vast sea)-let them happen!!

Ok-enough of that!!! I hope to get back into looking at the models and surface charts soon-man I do miss the blog!!!

Have a great day

I vote NO for a cold and stormy winter.  I vote this way for myself and for my 4  1/2 year old and 11 year old.  It's much too hard on young children (and their parents!)  when they can't go outside for weeks at a time. There is also the danger of sickness brought home from school because everyone has the plague.  Please send us a mild winter!

Snow and cold please...   Well even if the cold lovers lose the vote, it's good to know that the LRC runs a dictatorship,LOL  ( although this last LRC was a bit too militaristic in some areas, alot of damage from ice to tornadoes to flooding in the region)

Yes, only so we can have a good chase season in the spring. Speaking of chasing, may have to watch this for possible chase potential,

...SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE ACROSS PARTS OF THE SOUTHERN/EASTERN
PLAINS INTO THE OZARK PLATEAU/LWR MISSOURI VALLEY NEXT WEDNESDAY...

MEDIUM RANGE FORECAST GUIDANCE CONTINUES TO INDICATE THAT FAIRLY
STRONG SURFACE CYCLOGENESIS WILL ACCOMPANY AN AMPLIFIED POLAR TROUGH
TO THE LEE OF THE ROCKIES DURING THE EARLY TO MIDDLE PART OF THE
COMING WORK WEEK.  AND...CONFIDENCE IS HIGH THAT A SIGNIFICANT
RETURN FLOW OF MOISTURE OFF THE GULF OF MEXICO WILL FINALLY DEVELOP
BY WEDNESDAY...SUPPORTING INCREASING CONVECTIVE POTENTIAL ACROSS THE
CENTRAL STATES.  THE WARM SECTOR MAY NOT BECOME PARTICULARLY BROAD
DUE TO THE CONTINUING PRESENCE OF A SURFACE RIDGE ACROSS THE EASTERN
STATES INTO LATE WEEK.  BUT...IT SEEMS PROBABLE THAT AT LEAST A
MODEST OUTBREAK OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL OCCUR IN A CORRIDOR FROM
PARTS OF NORTHEAST TEXAS NORTHWARD INTO IOWA...NEXT WEDNESDAY INTO
  WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

CONSIDERABLE SPREAD CONTINUES TO EXIST AMONG THE MODELS AND MREF
MEMBERS CONCERNING THE STORM EVOLUTION...INCLUDING THE TRACK OF THE
PRIMARY SURFACE LOW.  IF THE MORE SOUTHERN TRACK OF THE LATEST GFS
COMES TO FRUITION /IN CLOSER PROXIMITY TO THE DEVELOPING RETURN
FLOW/...THEN THE SEVERE POTENTIAL WILL PROBABLY BE SIGNIFICANTLY
GREATER THAN IF THE MORE NORTHERN TRACK OF THE ECMWF VERIFIES.

As for the "vote" that occured this morning...I am late but I vote for lots of cold and snow this year. I really enjoyed the snow we got last year, seemed to come at least once a week. Looking forward to the storm later this upcoming week, and then hopefully a cool down. (Im tired of this warm weather) It's November for crying out loud!! At least the weather looks like it will be nice for Election Day so everyone can get out and cast that all important vote!
