Nice Thanksgiving Day

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

It appears that snow showers is all we should expect out of the weekend storm.  The jet stream energy that is forecast to carve out the storm doesn't dive in hard like in yesterday's computer models.  This means we will get a strong cold front, some very cold air aloft, and a good chance of snow showers on Sunday.  But, the storm will likely  form well east of Kansas City.  The snowflake contest continues and won't end until we have our first inch at the KSHB studios.

We hope you have a great holiday.  I am taking the next two days off.  Jeremy Nelson will update the blog later today.  Meteorologist Brett Anthony will fill you in on the details of this strong model trend on NBC Action News this morning.

Have a great day and enjoy your Thanksgiving feast!

Gary

I would still wait for the model runs today before I make any guess on what Sunday might hold.  It is still 3 days away.  Models yesterday morning showed NOTHING and then the afternoon models showed a couple inches of snow.  They can always change!

That is the BEST Thanksgiving news I could hear :)  Thank you!!  Now I can spend Thanksgiving weekend with my family.  And as long as we dont get snow next weekend (my daughter's 3rd birthday party) or Christmas weekend, I'll deal.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!

I think it is so pretty when it snows.  I was away from it for 6 years and last year was my first year seeing it in a while.  It was AWESOME to see the snow flakes that were as big as my hand!!

I wouldn't expect any snow until around the 12th.  I would also be interested in how even potential flurries Sunday fits in with the LRC.

Gary,

This is a question for Gary, but keep in mind the LRC is best shown at 500 mb.  I don't think showing flurries or snow showers this weekend to something 'x' days ago at the surface is a good comparison.

Hey All,

I am new to the blog in terms of leaving comments.  However, I read the blog everyday.  I am just curious as to what some people think are all the storms going to form east of here just leaving us high and dry this winter.  I would love to see some big snow this year as it has been a very wet year.  I would think this Northwest Flow has to change sometime.
