Watch NBC Action News after NFL football for the latest on the snow and travel conditions!

Quick Sunday evening update. Flurries and a little flurry/drizzle mix has created a couple of icy spots again on bridge decks and overpasses. Most roads are fine, but just be aware you may be driving the speed limit and then come upon an icy spot or two.
Latest models trends keep the forecast as is thru Tuesday. The GFS gives us a shot of some rain/snow changing to snow on Wednesday. Not much different than we have been thinking up to this point. It is something we need to keep an eye on. It is our next chance of seeing some snow. I know Gary is hoping for 1" of snow that day since he picked December 3 as his guess for the first 1" of snow.
Thank you to everyone who sent in snowman and creature pictures! I got a lot and will try to share another one tonight!

Good Sunday bloggers! It has been a long wait, exactly 267 days since our last measurable snow in Kansas City...but the wait ended last evening. The official storm total at KCI so far is 0.6". Many are waking up this morning to a fresh dusting to 1"+ across the viewing area. The snow showers and flurries will continue across the area today!
Overall roads are in good condition, but bridge decks and overpasses are very icy and slick. I saw 2 cars in the ditch just off 435 on my drive to work, and southbound 71 hwy at Truman Dr. has been closed due to a trailer spinout. The spinout was caused by an icy bridge deck. So please drive with caution this morning!
While there is a down side to the snow...there is an upside too! Look at this wintry scene sent to us from Glen in Trenton, MO. Glen reported about 1" of snow.

In Lee's Summit the snow total was about 0.25"-0.50". Jereme Wilson sent in these scene of the snow on a deck post.

If you have a snow total please pass it along and I will share them in the blog and on the air today! Also a blogger challenge. There isn't much snow, but whoever can build the most creative snowman, woman, or creature will get there picture shown on the 5 p.m. news today! Send the pictures to jnelson@nbcactionnews.com You must include your name and where you live!
If you have travel plans around the nation today please pack your patience! The storm that brought us snow will bring rain and thunderstorms to the East Coast and heavy snow to parts of the Midwest and Great Lakes. Chicago could see 6" of snow with a lot of wind! Here is the suface map for this afternoon.

Enjoy your Sunday...and make sure to send your snow creation pictures to me by 4 p.m. this afternoon! We'll have blog updates as needed today! And finally a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the blog this holiday weekend! Our webmaster couldn't believe all the blog traffic the past 2 days!
Gary talks a little about this years LRC at www.LRCWeather.com. Check it out and have a great day.
