Good afternoon bloggers,
Can you see how hard it is to forecast snow and snow amounts? Today is a very strange day with these snow bands.
A new band of heavier snow has developed near the Kansas City metro area. Expect the snow intensities to increase between now and 5 PM. It should rapidly taper off after 6 PM tonight. Additional accumulations of an inch or so is possible south of a Topeka, KS to Dearborn, MO line, and north of a Garnett to Warrensburg line. A few isolated spots may still end up with two to three inches of snow, especially just south of Kansas City.
With the wind blowing and the sun beginning to set we are expecting the roads to have many developing slick and hazardous spots. The snow will start blowing around quite a bit in the areas that end up with over one inch of snow.
The snowflake contest is about to end, finally! We have measured 0.5" on the Plaza at the NBC Action News Studios, so another half inch still has to fall to end the contest.
We have had some problems in the blog today, really just one blogger. I hope everyone can just talk about the weather. Let us know what you are experiencing, and let's share this together in a positive way!
Gary
