Chance of any snow?

Good evening bloggers,

Watch our newscasts tonight as we track the developing snow showers this evening and the possible snow on Tuesday.  The latest GFS and NAM do not have much snow on Tuesday. We are possibly just in the wrong spot for any upper level support for the development of snow on Tuesday, but I am not sold on these solutions yet.  I will update the blog after 8 PM tonight.

In the mean time some snow showers are developing and heading our way.  They may organize into a band of snow with some minor accumulation, but more likely south of I-70.

Have a great evening and look for an update soon.

Gary

Am not impressed with the southward push of the arctic front.

Still setting up shop in central missouri. The placement of this front will have a huge impact on this weeks weather.

Right now, its anyones guess. From a fan of winter storms, im not impressed as of this moment for the prospects of any major precipitation on the south side of the metro.

Way to early to talk about thursday, but it does have the potential of being just plain old rain on the south side, especially if this front continues to stall nearby.

Color me pessimistic....

Could the really low temperatures along with the really low wind chill temps be enough to cancel school tomorrow.  I believe that for Lee's Summit the wind chill has to be around -10 to -15 or so to call school off...

Adam,

You say you are not impressed - yet this has been impressive so far even without any precipitation. The mass of this front is simply too large to ignore and a very slight movement can make a huge difference in what we might experience. So it is wait and see for now - but the event itself was impressive so far, I never recall my thermometer registering a lower temperature on each update for over an hr!

Good Evening everyone!

Waiting for the temp to stop dropping here before I post the amazing drop that occured here in KCK and the rest of the metro area. I must say that I am a little dissapointed in the models so far this year, and the weather for that matter. I thought that this week we were suppose to be in the so called "active" portion of the LRC, and so far...nothing really to exciting showing up. Yeah, we have some snow chances, but the models as far as Tuesday goes have really backed off giving Kansas City much in the way of significant snowfall. Now of course I know that since it is so cold, it would take much to amount to a lot, but it just seems like maybe this years LRC is not going to produce as much as it did last year in Kansas City. I know winter is still a few days away and all, so we really shouldnt be discounting it as of yet, but December is running short on time, and we may begin to shut the window on snowfall accumulations this winter season. But who knows!

Have a good evening, and hopefully those radar returns will grow some so we can get some snow on the ground tonight...but I wouldnt hold your breath!

The front blasted through southern Leavenworth county at around 9:35 and the temp dropped from 60 to 34 in 25 minutes - about a degree per minute.  We're now into the teens.

Now that we're within 11 days of Christmas, I'm curious what your cycling theory holds for that week... temps?  Chances of a white Christmas?

However, i tend to agree with some other comments to quote my late grandpa, " every day of snowy or cold weather you don't have after the first of December is one less day of snowy or cold weather you can have."
