8:30 AM update:
A band of light precipitation is moving through, but with temperature near or above freezing there have been very minimal problems, thus far. Thank you for keeping us updated on what you are experienceing.
New data is rolling in and is inconclusive on tonights snow potential. The vort max, as described in yesterday mornings blog, appears to track just south of Kansas City. Any farther north and there will be very limited if any snowfall accumulation. Just a bit farther south and we will get 1 to 3 inches of snow late tonight. I still lean in the direction of it tracking near Paola. Remember along and north of this upper level systems track is where there is accumulation potential. I will write a more significant blog around noon today. In the mean time Meteorologist Brett Anthony will keep you updated through the morning on NBC Action News.
Previous entry below:
Good morning bloggers,
It is windy this morning. Another storm is affecting the area and this forecast is a rather tough one early today. It is dry, so far, but radar echoes have just started developing at 5:40 AM.
Look at the 850 mb map at 6 AM this morning. As this storm approaches it has produced a powerful low level jet. 60 to 80 mph winds are blowing at 5,000 feet up:

So, we are having a storm this moring, it is a wind storm with 30 to 40 mph gusts. Temperatures warmed all night and they are already near freezing. The dewpoints are still low. If precipitation starts falling the temperature could briefly drop, but so far no precipitation is reaching the ground. This could change fast. Let us know if you experience any precipitation this morning.
The upper level storm track is still crucial to our snow potential tonight. Read yesterday's blog for details. I will update the blog soon. Meteorologist Brett Anthony is figuring this out on NBC Action News this morning.
Have a great start to your day. We will also begin talking about the end of the week set up later on as well. The models are trending back to a storm on Saturday.
