A look into this next storm

Good evening bloggers,

We will be tracking Santa Clause tonight!  Can you believe it is already Christmas Eve.  I just finished my Christmas shopping, have the weathercast ready to describe this unusual pattern, and hopefully I can catch up on my sleep after staying up for last nights small snowfall.

This weather pattern is cycling according to this years LRC.  Please be patient with questions as I am doing a lot of analysis right now.  The cycle length is somewhere around 50 to 53 days.  This has been an exciting ride of ups and downs, but our local area has yet to be hit by a storm system like those hitting other parts of the nation.  We are just not quite in the right spot.  This doesn't mean everything won't come together once or twice this winter.

The next storm, due in Saturday, is so close to being a major snow producer for us and yet it may leave us frustrated again.  Just a small change to more of an upper low and we will get blasted.  If you look back to the first 10 to 12 days of November you can find this storm and sequence the last time through the cycle.  It is amazingly similar, but there is more energy in the flow now.  I will try to show some comparisons on Friday.

Have a great Christmas Eve!

Gary

Looks like the weekend storm will get its act together to the east of us again.   It fits with the pattern, but just a perfect setup could give us a surprise.   It seems like the ones you dont expect are the ones that blast you.

Its been a wild ride and think the temp contrast will be the main focus as the pattern settles down.

Merry Christmas

You have a great Christmas everyone, I saw more people shopping today then on black, fri,sat and sun! I can only have a good Christmas because I'm sick. :-( Hopefully we can get a big storm on Saturday!
If the low did close off, about how much snow would we get? (It dosen't have to be that perfect, just a range. 3-8"?)
    Happy Holidays!

Well I am completely bummed at our lack of snow but in the grand scheme of things, not really that important!  Hope that everyone has a very safe and Merry CHRISTmas and a snowy New Year!  Hope that santa is very good to all of you!

It would be so exciting if we could get blasted by this next round of snow, but I also realize some people will be traveling and that would cause a lot of problems. Mother Nature will do what she wants.  Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy Festivus (for those Seinfeld fans)!

I wouldn't mind a good snow blast myself.  So long as the wife and I can make our dinner reservations on the Plaza Saturday night. :)

Well I for one like that it is not butt freezing cold today. It is cold enough to feel like Winter, but you can still feel your limbs! :-)

Happy Holidays to all and stay safe.

Merry Christmas to all, and Gary, thank you for all the time you have spent explaining this wonderful thing called weather.  The others on the weather team do a wonderful job also.  We can only hope that this storm pulls together and gives us a taste of what the others in the nation are getting.  Actually, I would love to have a 6-8 inch snow (that's what is on my list for Santa)!!  Merry Christmas!!!!

Gary, you may have gathered from some of my entries that I'm not the biggest fan of snow and cold. I have to tell you though, my wife and I along with our daughters spent the evening at my sister's house on the plaza. It was beautiful, the cold crisp fresh air along with a new blanket of snow to compliment all of the lights. O.K. now that I got that off my chest, that's the best looking 7-day I've seen for awhile! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Merry Christmas to Gary, Brett, Jeremy, Jeff and all the bloggers!

I don't post often, but I come here at least once or twice a day (more if there's weather happening) and I so appreciate all I learn from all of you!

Now if you could bring on sunny and 80 for the next several months, I'd be very happy! :)
