The much talked about cold front is sweeping through Nebraska and far northern Kansas on its way to KC. It will arrive early this morning. The air behind the front is not as cold as previous fronts this season, but it is still a cold blast and quite a change from the 60s on Thursday. Wind chills Friday afternoon will likely be in the single digits! Will we see any snow? An area of low clouds may move through this afternoon and evening. Some flurries may come from these clouds as the cold air rushes in. We are monitoring two potential sytems for Sunday into Monday. Neither system is very big, but it would not take much to see a period of snow that would accumulate in a minor way. Gary will have an update on this change back to winter later today.
From Gary:
Here is the 7 AM surface forecast from the RUC model. It is about to get windy and our high temperature for the day is likely going to happen now! Meteorologist Brett Anthony and Jeremy Nelson will keep you updated on NBC Action News through the morning. I will update the blog around 8 AM this morning on the snow potential for today and this weekend. And go to www.LRCWeather.com and click on that weather blog for more on the new Arctic air mass likely building in the next week.
