I was hoping for a little more rain.  Even though we've had pretty steady rain for the last month, my yard still has cracks in it.  Pretty puzzling. Anyone else seeing the same thing in their yards?  BTW I'm in Greenwood.

Welcome back Jeremy. Nice job predicting the severe stuff on Monday. I had that date marked on my calendar back when you made the initial prediction and so I was definitely waiting for it.  I'm hoping that is the end of the severe stuff for us here in the metro this season!!

Initiation is everything, but the environment is primed with shear, forcing along the warm front and ample instability.  As MCSs typically are more nocturnal, as the LLJ kicks in, moisture transport and midlevel winds will be very good.  In fact, the moisture transport is sick tonight.

amet1 - I suspect a 10 minute audit by the IT folks at KSHB could quickly eliminate the spoofed accounts.  In addition, it would take little to associate IPs to the correct email addresses of actual users.

But...I digress...its a shame the spoofing is occurring.

Quite a storm up Polo way.  Lost electricity a couple times for a minute or so; lots of wind and torrential rain for awhile.  Still very heavy rain, but at least I can see out to the fence :-)

Today Salina has reached 101 and Medicine Lodge 102 as of 5 PM. Amazing that last Wednesday was in the low 70's for highs!

Looks like some high-based storms are moving into SW Kansas with some severe winds as dewpoint depressions are around 40 degrees.

It is a shame that this goes on. We all know it's the same person doing it. It's the same person who continually allows the blog to digress into something bad. Didn't I read one time you were an IT person? Can't they pay you to go fix the problem and validate the emails?  It's a shame ti always comes to this.

Amos, really you're ruining it for everyone. Whenever you pull this you always refer to ABail aka AMos which tells me you're invoking sympathy and thinking we're all too dumb to figure out it;s you.

We all know who it is, look at the spoofers times and who the reference. They all point to someone.
My wife thought I was spoofed once, but it was my brother.
Anyway...looks quiet for a while maybe overnight?
I would like to know how this spring/ summer compares to 2004, are they similar or am I way off.

If we don't get any rain in the metro tonight, does that make the air more unstable for weather tomorrow or does it just mean more humid, muggy conditions?

Nothing in Marceline, but some cool cloud formations, small rai shafts and cool lightning.

I hope we can get something tonight. (not to wish anything on anyone) but I havent seen a severe storm move through here in quite a while.

When I got home from work, around 5:30, I couldn't even stand to be outside for more than a few minutes, it was SO hot and humid and uncomfortable.  Just a few minutes ago I stepped outside and it was almost cool out there  I hope it stays that way tonight, so we can get a nice walk in!

Chasers in Nebraska have been on some good wall clouds, one funnel roped out, but still lowerings and obviuos rotation. Check TVN.net or Severe Studios

On radar it looks like an outflow boundary? moved southwest from that supercell now over Marshall. It looks like that boundary is going through KC through Northern Johnson county, Mo. What is the possiblity of this sparking off something, Lord knows I hope not.

It appears that Marshal Mo might need to take some cover. That supercell profile is classic for another tornado to spawn.

some time ago I posted a question asking if we would have a wetter than normal summer. I think your response was that it would be normal or just a bit above normal. With all the rain in the last week (we've had over 5 inches in Pleasant hill in 10 days) do you think the rest of the summer will be wetter than normal? I sure hope so. Seems when it is  wetter that means it is also often cooler.

I don't see why were in a Tornado watch on the Kansas Side, everything is to the NE and moving south EAST.

I am not seeing the classic hook echo on that cell moving towards Marshall that would indicate a tornado but you never know.

We just got the outflow boundary about 6:45 from the massive supercell up north. Lowered temp about 15 and the humidity tremendously! Relief!!!

Two stations are showing the damage from that storm around Norborn I think it's called. KC metro is out of the watch.

Here in NE Olathe, it has started to get dark inside since 7:40pm when I usually get really bright western sunshine making everything brighter, instead of darker. Looking north, there are some dark clouds, especially to the NW. But according to radar, there's no storms forming that I can see. What does this mean? Should I dispense the doggie valium now, or hold off & see what develops, if anything?

so do we even actually have a threat for anything this evening?  I am in southern platte county

It was so hot & then we went to the water park & it must have dropped 20 degrees!  I need to get a thermometer.  I can't believe how quickly it cooled down.

Flakefan, I've been wondering the same thing. Gary reported on the 6pm forecast that we would stay dry in the Metro tonight -- no rain. But even over here in South JocoKS, we're still under a tornado watch. We're at the very edge of it, but I'll still be glad when it expires.

That system moving up from SW Kansas toward Salina -- where will it end up? It looks like it's headed for Northern NE and St. Joe. I've been thinking all day about you folks up there in St. Joe, with no power and now these storms. I pray this is it for you -- you deserve a big break!

I'm glad I went to see my little crap head cousin; it really solved a big problem. It's really amazing what a middle school kid will do when you won't make him an account on a weather blog. He will make not just one himself, he will make many. He shouldn't be a problem any more. ;)

It was quite amazing that while I was yelling at him that the wind picked up suddenly from the ENE here in rural Lafayette county. It had to be the outflow from that interesting storm up to the north. It was bluer than could ever been seen. The outflow was quite pleasant I must say though; the temperatures cooled off to 79 for a while, and then 20 minutes later it was 87 again. (going by car therm.) A short, but much needed break from the heat.

Amos, why is it , whenever there's trouble on the blog, it's always one of your "friends" and now it's your "cousin"? Do you really think all the bloggers are that stupid not to see through that ruse? It's always the same story. I'm not sure if there's some kind of illness going on with you but the signs all consistently point at you. I don't think anyone believes it's always a friend or relative of yours when you come back and claim you took care of it. Whatever the excuse you want to use, it all points at you and has for a long time.

I really didn't want to point him out specifically, as he is family, so I pointed him out as a friend. I must admit, I thought I stopped it the first time, and I did have suspicions with odd spoofs. He first started with a meteorologist from another station. I really shrugged it off; I think I even laughed a little. I figured he'd quit.

Then, he wanted his own account and for me to make it. I told him no as he was only 13. That made him mad, so he made many accounts. They all called me names, and I'm sure he didn't mean them, he was just mad. It was quite unique for a kid his age to take this out so well. I really should have told his mother the first time he pulled this BS and I was pretty sure. He will no longer be a problem. It's quite a long story, and if you don't believe some of this crazy kid's stuff, I have proof of his insanity. I have fully solved the problem; the former spoofer names will not be found on here again. PM me with further questions.
