NBC Action Weather Blog

Evening shower lasts past sunset!

Good evening bloggers,

A heavy downpour developed over Kansas City, MO and then tracked southwest across the state line to near Stanley and over southern Overland Park at 9:30 PM. I am showing a time-lapse at 10 PM of the development of this shower.

And, I have some very special graphics, so you have an assignment to watch the show and let me know what you think of the description of this weeks weather pattern.  Be sure to watch NBC Action News in HD!

Have a good nights sleep.  Remember I am now on Sportsradio WHB 810 AM every morning at 8 AM.  Brett Anthony is now on 980 KMBZ!

Now I'm angry, I would have beeen where it was and I'm in San Diego so I have no way of seeing the lapse, can you post some pictures on tomarrow's blog? My flight gets in at 8:40 P.M. CST! I can't wait to be home. Its freezing here and apparently everybody calls this a warm spell. I don't know what to think.

Hmmm, interesting track to that little storm. I just replayed it on the weather.com radar. It went from northeast to southwest, stopped dead and fizzled right at 69 Hwy. and 159th St.  It reminded me of that line from 'Planes and Trains and Automobiles' -- "You're going the WRONG way!"

Very good forecast graphics, Gary. You showed how close this set-up is to not being a heat spell, and instead being another set-up very similar to last time.

I personally believe that this will once more be like last time, and we will have rain take out the heat later in the outlook. More microbursts? More microburst videos??? That would be very lucky to get another incredible video!

And, I am off Thursday and Friday, so you know it will happen.

I was out working in the yard and around 8:15pm I watched this storm develop, move from NE to SW, just south of my at 92nd & Holmes. As this transpired I felt a nice cool outflow from the storm, saw a nice rainbow in the southern sky, then had a few brief periods of rain.... Very Interesting and all the while I was wondering where did this come from, why is it moving the wrong direction, and I can't wait to watch Gary at 10pm for the explanation!
