A Crazy Forecast....

Good Evening!

WATCH NBC ACTION NEWS AT 5PM, 6PM AND 10PM FOR THE LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION FROM KANSAS CITY'S WEATHER LEADER!

Today has been another strange summer day weather wise.  A strong thunderstorm developed in Nebraska and sagged south staying just west of the Kansas City metro.  It landed up becoming severe as it moved into areas like Ottawa and Garnet with reports of two semi trucks being blown  off the highway and power polls being snapped in Garnett.  Its amazing that one little isolated thunderstorm caused this today.  We will be analyzing it on LIVE ESP with X Vision at 5 and 6 PM.

The next few days pose many weather forecasting challenges.  Have a great evening!

hey all, just wanted to drop by and say hi...

I sure do miss all this interesting weather that you guys are having.  When I moved down south, I thought that I would see more rain, but we havent had a drop in over 3 weeks! Amazingly we are still in a surplus out this way.

Take care!

That is almost comical that half of a roof got blown off of a hotel like that down in Ottawa! Of course, damage is not funny period, but it is quite weird how these storms can act!

Congratulations to the NBC Action Weather Center for the first 100 degree forecast of the season. LOL, of course.

It is amazing to see how much damage one little thunderstorm can cause.  We hope everybody is ok.  We are expecting the anticyclone to strengthen as we head into next week and one day next week we may touch 100 degrees for the first time this year.

Uh...um..yuck.  It is a bad thing in the Summer when you are in the center of a high pressure ring...HOT HOT HOT.  Guess we have had nearly a month to prepare for it...

I'm in Olathe, and I knew something was up when I saw mammatus clouds in the sky.  We didn't get more than sprinkles, but I know when I see those clouds that somewhere close there is a *very* nasty storm.

Not sure about KC Metro, but here in McLouth we are 2.52" below normal for precip.  Todays rain did very little to help, other than water the dust.  Thirty minutes after the rain ended you couldn't even tell there was any rain.  The cracks are getting huge in the ground.  Corn and soybeans need water now.  Wheat is harvested, hay is being cut.  Ahhhh, it is great though to feel the warmth of the sun, I love it.

Adam-
He WAS a blogger from time to time. He is now the KSHB Wx intern.

You have to be part of the team, or their intern to write. Jacob's doing a good job!

I didn't know NBC had any interns, how neat! I feels bad for some people, it died in one little spot with rain going completley around. I saw the mammatus clouds and some moisture sucked into it. Weird to see three airplanes flying right by them today! I don't remember jacob being a blogger but it does sound familiar. Have a good evening, and our ground is FLOODED still. I hate it.

Interesting to see wichita get some storms. I thought they were in a middle of the anticyclone. I been watching them storms in south dakota I wonder if they will turn southeast along the ridge?

I haven't been on the blog as much lately and didn't realize that Jacob was now an intern.  Congrats Jacob!!!  I think that is wonderful.  I know how passionate you are about the weather and think this will be a great experience for you.  Kuddos to KSHB for having interns and giving people the opportunity the pursue their passions on their journey to a future career!
